I don’t like in the USA like most people on this website but where I live free speech does have limitations.
For example if you call a person an insulting name like ugly, stupid or loser online only 1 or 2 times you likely wouldn’t face any criminal charges.
If you send a person over 20,30,40 or 50+ messages online calling them insults like ugly, stupid or loser then you likely would face criminal charges such as harassment or stalking.

the idea of free speech is for opinions. to safely criticise government. that needs to be safe and uncensored. but harassing anyone or dirtying reputation without proof, is not the same category.
'harmless words should be protected and uncensored' but they are censored. so it should be same for both sides.
'hate obama' is hate speech it has word hate. same hating trump.
how is it even possible to call anyome ugly 20 times? i would block you after 5 or less? if i don't block. i don't mind so forfeit option to prosecute?
Totally! I saw a list a couple months ago. I don't remember where the U. S.'s freedom index ranked, but it was MUCH lower than you would expect.
Still 15 years ago, you could call someone a "nlgger" for acting like one, like say they hit your car or something. But NOW it's considered "hate speech", even if you said it because of their behavior.
I saw an Instagram post recently, "It's not a democracy if you're afraid to say what you truly think."
I also never liked that public schools and private businesses didn't need to abide by the first ammendment
No one will care when I use all two sentences equivalent of N-word here but if I start to criticize catholic church among wrong people, this can quickly end up in "hurting of someone religious feelings" in court. Even if our constitution grants free speech, furthermore it forbids suppression of opinions which don't incite to violence.
Every country has free speech limitations, even our hyped-up-on-freedom brethren in mighty 'Murrica. In fact, trying to break these free speech limitations will cost you dearly in the United States, as FOX Noise, Rudy Giuliani or Alex Jones had to find out the hard way.
@DryGermanGuy it's certainly worse. Not UK levels, but certainly been going downhill for a while. Just compare 90s comedy with today. 😂
yes. and thats how it should be in order to foster a safe place for everyone
Every where, there is not a total free speech where you can swear and use offensive words to all the people.
You come on here and insult our country with your disliking of it and expect me to be polite and answer your question not gonna happen
The most obvious limitation would be threatening statements against people, groups, and infrastructure (bomb threats). Other limitations could include using profanities/obscene language
