For the most part, the only wars that are guaranteed to have been fought out of courage and standing up for what's right, were civil wars. Invading others for money is more about daddy issues than courage. ㅤ

Veterans who suffered deserve respect because Lord knows the VA doesn't take very good care of them.

I sympathize with those who got drafted.
I don't sympathize with those who enlisted. Many of those did so for the money and benefits, so it was just a job. Some had the delusional idea that they were serving their country when they went abroad to kill people in foreign countries.

Not every veteran deserves automatic respect. Not all of them served in battle or did anything impressive. And some might have done terrible things to innocent people.

Respect is a wonderful thing, everyone deserves respect but unfortunately not everyone gets the respect that they deserve. As for our veterans they were good to our country & it saddens me to say our country was not good to them.

As for me I work with a few veterans & I have veterans in my family. As for my grandfathers generation & my father’s generation they had no choice, they had to go to war. My grandfathers generation was welcomed back & honored. My father’s generation was spit on when they returned, had things thrown at them & they had so much more hateful & disrespectful things happen to them as well.

I have a lot of respect for veterans & I wish our country did as too.

@Agape93 That's how I feel with WW2 vets. Probably would've just been better off if they hadn't fought anyway. Why is it men who got the scythe whilst women got to cheat on them for the old perverts owning the factories back at home?
In a better neo-colonial style of military we would hire private mercenaries and strip away the enemies land, selling it to our mercenaries. A man who is willing to shoot and get shot to provide for his family is a true warrior.

i wouldn't yell or harrass them, but i wouldn't really pay any respects. especially since our military has destabilized countries, invaded them and promoted violence and since i am anti-war

I think one needs to respect the war to respect the veteran.
