Not if it was a senseless war that he didn't support. It makes sense to not want to kill other people or get killed or mutilated for the benefit of politicians and corporate interests. There should be options for conscientious objectors. In fact, I am opposed to the draft.

I supported those who refused to fight in Viet Nam and burned their draft cards or moved to Canada.

If all a guy had to do was claim he was trans, it might be a good option.
Although there is a guy on GAG, I think he lives in Turkey, who said he was trans in order to avoid the draft, and the government is forcing to either transition or join the army. Yikes!

I don’t think it’s cowardice to refuse to do the bidding of a corrupt government.
But it is cowardice to hide behind a gender transition.

The brave thing to do would to openly protest a mandatory draft.
Even at the risk of imprisonment.

Or otherwise just go to war. Against your will sure but you man up to it.

Masquerading as a woman is not virtuous and never will be.

When a person chooses to avoid combat, society avoids both the expense of forced military service and the risk of a compromised soldier on the field. Preserving life while keeping the military focused on willing recruits creates a better overall result for everyone.

Coming from someone who has never been in the military, I think it really depends on the conflict.

If the conflict is against an existential threat to your country then it is 100% a cowardly move. Otherwise, if you are called to fight as an aggressor or someone else's war where the outcome is completely inconsequential then I would say doing this is justified.

In fact, back when the US has entangled itself with the Ukraine war which I still believe we had no reason to be in, I stood by this practice because the people who supported the involvement unironically believe that you can change your gender and you can use this lack of logic to your advantage should a draft be issued.

In a way, maybe. I think we need our men to serve in a war to keep this country free and in a democracy. If war breaks out, such as it did in February, we need our boys to be boys, rather than wish to become women and to not serve in a war. When the boys serve in a war, it means we have a strong country and military.
