it depends on the matter , if my country is under attack, i will join, it's my duty but fighting wars for corrupt governments, No. I won't fight those wars but again you are generalizing the army. the army isn't just infanterists with assault rifles. you have medics, air traffic controllers, ICT specialists and so on. Yes all will learn combat training because that's the bases of every soldier and officer. To be honest, i think the military is good for all young guys out there. it teaches you respect, honor and dignity. Everyone is equal in the beginning. You have to conquer your own fears and befriend people you don't like. things you won't learn in the normal world. What makes someone a coward actually? Am i a coward for fearing to get into a rollercoaster, i was in the army but i dont mind doing outdoor things but i dont like rollercoasters. to some people im a coward. i think you should stop caring about what others think about you. The only that matters is, you are there for those that love you, when they need you the most. i am offended by all the woman responding how ever. Yes woman are in the army , and i respect them but in the end they aren't fighting on the fronts. Simply because they can't handle it mentally and physically. im sorry but thats the hard reality. I constantly hear how woman want us to respect them, sure, we will. if you fight our battles on the front. Just had to get rit of that. pursue what career you want dude, i do think you are a coward when you do the wrong things in life. earn money on the expenses of other living creatures, humans and animals alike. forsaken those that rely on you.

No. Some people can't join for physical or medical reasons. Some can't pass the ASVAB (yes, people, you have to be somewhat intelligent to join the military. To be a commissioned officer, you need a college degree).
The military also has a maximum legal strength, so some people can't join even if they can AND want to.
Plus, just because someone puts on the uniform doesn't automatically make them good people. There are people who join for selfish reasons and the military has its share of murderers, drug dealers, spouse abusers, alcoholics, and lazy people.
But most importantly, some people simply find that they have a different calling in life. Some people are called to be police officers, doctors/nurses, EMTs, construction workers, lawyers, teachers, business men and women, ministers/clergy, and counselors, all of which are vital to society. There is nothing wrong, selfish, dishonorable, or cowardly about that.
By the way, I'm in the military.
I think that people do a better job if they like their work. The military serves one need of the country. However a country also needs strong businesses, for that matter it needs to have the garbage picked up on a regular basis.
Far better and more courageous for an individual to work in a job where their individual strengths can be best utilized rather than doing a job the have no passion for.
the short answer is, I think not joining the military can be a completely rational and good decision, furthermore, the individual doing so is not a coward.
I think joining any military is stupid. You are not serving your country, you are serving the political agenda of a corrupt government. You are a puppet in the war games of the wicked and greedy.
SO no, NOT joining the military doesn't make you a coward, it shows you are smart enough to know better.
Some people don't see their country worth serving, and that's fine. Don't bash people for their life choices. Conscription is long gone.

You should do military service only if it is in your self-interest.
Western militaries today tie their servicemen's hands behind their backs, causing their needless deaths, in wars that are far more about 'nation-building' and 'exporting democracy' than about self-defence.I was 14 when they hit the twin towers. At that time I wanted to sign up, but by the time I was old enough to enlist, I had a full academic scholarship to my local university and we were in Iraq for reasons that just seemed shady to me. Seeing how the country imploded in the wake of the coalition's withdrawal, I'm left asking just what the hell was accomplished, with so many dead on both sides.
It's smart.

Soldiers are tools being exploited by the elite to serve their own selfish purposes. "Serving the country" is a lie soldiers tell themselves to avoid dealing with the fact that they're being manipulated and treated as pawns.
I serve my country by being engaged in the political process.No. Why would you think it does make you a coward? We can't all be in the army, plus a lot of people don't agree with conflict.
WTF do I get in exchange for risking death? Nothing. I get to come home and be treated like a potential terrorist, not have medical issues related to serving get treated, and be considered widely unemployable. Fuck that.
When you join the military you aren't serving your country. Your serving invested interest groups like military contractors, weapons manufacturers, banks and oil tycoons to invade nations abroad.
Joining the military in itself is cowardly. This isn't a century ago, when men who didn't enlist to go get blown up or gassed in the trenches were given white feathers.
I've been drafted for 2 years military service A huge loss of time and money for me. Nothing heroic.
if you have national service in your country and you refuse to serve just like everyone else, yes it is cowardice.
There would be no Army or Navy without the workforce at home.
on its not, if you don't want to join then you don't have to
No dude... unless u r THAT conservative basically
Its like being single means gay? Dafuq really!😑
