What is so controversial about requiring a proof of identity to vote?

It makes little sense to me why this is a bad idea, unless someone is misinformed, or hoping to take advantage of the system

It's a requirement for many basic life things; driving, starting a new job, opening a bank account, applying for assistance, purchasing firearms, picking up orders, buying alcohol etc.

Sometimes the things leftists argue for proves to me they want to take advantage and destroy the system 🤷‍♂️

The only reason democrats oppose ID is because they want to continue to cheat. no good reason. a black has a license to drive. they can show it to vote of course the ID must also say if citizen or not and checked before entering and as part of the mail in process should need photo id. and a license that has word citizen.

We don't require id at the polling place in Australia. Concerns are thoroughly investigated afterwards. Typically they find between 1 and 1.5 votes per million cast are suspicious. Is your argument that Americans are 100 times? 1000 times? 10000 times more corrupt than Australian voters?

I remember Nick Shirley coming under fire for claiming there was mass fraud in Minnesota. The media (CNN) in particular claimed it was false and a conspiracy. Now we see multiple arrests 🤷‍♂️.
California is even attempting to legally block him.
We have the DHS claiming large scale fraud, and many states, media, and democrats claiming its false. The story going from "it doesn't exist" to "well, it's not THAT bad"
LIKELY it's going to end up the same way 🤷‍♂️
