The President doesn't have the power to do that without Congressional approval, so even if he intended to do that, you would need to ask Congress why they didn't do it, since something like this requires at minimum a majority vote in Congress, In both houses I think.

Democrats are not going to go along with anything that makes Trump or the Republicans look good or "nice".

Trump doesn't give a shit about tax breaks for working Americans. His focus has always been on the rich. His game is to trick poor hard-working Americans that there are goodies in the "Big Beautiful Bill." Also, Trump obviously doesn't care about "waste, fraud and abuse." No, but I did get the biggest tax refund that I ever got in my whole life. I got $2000 back from the IRS and usually I have to pay two to three thousand dollars. I actually went back and checked how I prepared my taxes because I thought I made a mistake. Between the increase in the standard deduction, increase in SALT deduction and, the Social Security deduction I really got a nice tax cut.

I did not see my health insurance go down $2400 like Obama promised. All I saw was that in got more expensive and the copays went up a lot. So much for the "Affordable Care Act".

The tax cuts were aimed at the middle class. Over 53 million taxpayers got refunds from one or more of the tax cuts. I was able to take advantage of 3 of them.

Most got more than a thousand dollars. I really need to look st , y 2024 return to figure out exactly how much I got but my refund was $2000 and I usually end up owing the IRS 2-3 thousamd dollars.

Now, "In CBO's projections, the federal budget deficit in fiscal year 2026 is $1.9 trillion and grows to $3.1 trillion by 2036". Of course, that was made before Trump started his own personal forever war in the Middle East, like he promised he wouldn't.

The deficit is $40 trillion, and growing by 5% a year. The economy isn't.
