Anyone else disappointed with there income tax refund this year?

i only got back $150 after i did mine online using one of those free sites which offer extra services. i had used the same site last year and got back $500 .

the $150 is just the actual return i get in the bank , i also qualified for some tax credits (which are a couple hundred dollars each ) and such i get later in the year and get everyyear , pretty much anyone without a large income gets them here but refund itself seemed really small

i wondered if i filled something out wrong or different than last year or had got some extra money cause of covid in 2021 ?

All that means is that your payroll deductions were closer to the amount you actually owed. That's the way it should be. Theoretically, the two numbers should be the same, so you wouldn't get any return, and wouldn't owe money either.

A common way to get a large refund is unsteady work. Either the work itself was unsteady, or there were periods with a lot of overtime. Overtime for part of the year is one of the biggest reasons for a large refund. Only working part of the year is another big reason.

If you think it's wrong, double check all your numbers, and make sure you aren't missing any paperwork.

I had to write a check as usual but it wasn't as big as I expected. I made more money than last year and expected to pay a lot more but it really was not too bad.

Yeah, little bit. It wasn’t horrible, but a lot less than I got back last year.

thats what i though , $ 150 is still something but was hoping for a lot more , i need some extra to pay off a visa bill and this does very little to help
