How does it feel that 9/11 was 25 years ago, and what do you remember from that day?

For everyone who was around back in 2001 to have either heard the news or watched it live on TV when the planes hit the Twin Towers, what were your immediate thoughts?

Do you remember exactly where you were that morning when it happened, and does it honestly feel like it has been 25 whole years since that day, or does it still feel like it was just yesterday? When you first heard the news or saw the television coverage, did you originally think when the first plane hit that it was just a horrible accident and something meant to not take serious at first? Did it take seeing that second plane hit live on the broadcast for you to completely realize that the country was actually under attack?

It is crazy to think that a quarter of a century has passed since that moment completely changed the entire world. I want to open up a respectful space for people to look back, reflect, and share their firsthand memories, their reactions to the news, and how they think the country has changed over the last 25 years. Let me know your thoughts and memories below.

At first I was totally shocked in seeing repeat images of those planes hitting the towers. I was sick seeing images of people jumping. Then I was in disbelief when three towers turned to dust one after the other.
I mourned for all the people.

Afterwards, I heard the testimony of firefighters and people who had been on the scene talking about hearing multiple explosions in rapid succession when the twin towers began imploding.
I realized that building 7, which had not been hit by a plane and only had some fires on one of the upper floors, imploded in a controlled demolition.

I realized that the wings and engines of the planes that hit didn't tear off on impact.

I saw photos of the Pentagon immediately after the impact and realized that it wasn't from an airplane. I wondered why there were no videos.
Then I saw one video from one of the parking gates that showed something streak past that looked like a cruise missile, not an airliner.
And it was disclosed that the office in the Pentagon that was investigating the missing $2+trillion that Cheney had announced the day before was where the impact occurred. Investigation in to the money ceased.

I heard about the dancing Israelis.

I heard that Larry Silverstein had taken out terrorism insurance on the towers days before the attack.

I heard that people had been working on the elevators in the towers for a year and that Israeli "art students" had been going from one floor to another for weeks. Why did art students have stacks of boxes full of specialized detonators?

I saw testimony from engineers who said impact from airplanes or fires could not have made those buildings collapse like that.

I read about nano-thermite dust in the rubble.

No forensic analysis took place and, instead, all the rubble was immediately cleared out and shipped away.

I read that The Patriot Act had been written well before the attack.

More and more information came out and I got angry over the fact that the narrative we had been fed about Islamic terrorists was bullshit.
I realized that the attack had been a coup d'etat against the Constitution and Bill of Rights, as well as an excuse to attack countries that were standing in the way of Israeli expansion.
It was a false flag attack that sacrificed American citizens for the sake of Israel and the neocon's New American Century.

Now when I think about it, I am angry over the heinous act itself, as well as the lies we were told and the millions of deaths that resulted from our government's subsequent attacks on countries that had nothing to do with it.
I am angry over our loss of freedom and over the gullibility and passivity of our citizens.
Our country has not been the same since the passing of The Patriot Act.

The first 911 was launched by Porsche in 1964. I was too young to remember.

The other 911: was a little more complex. From earlier I was used to such things: Ireland, Israel related, Germany.

So my initial and still remaining reaction: ''Oh. Once again?''

I ''feel'' intellectual understanding for the resulting paranoia. I am willing to have sympathy with individual victims. But the whole thing is kind of over-rated. Especially after a cool-down over 25 years.

The day I heard of it was a few days later only. I refuse TV and ''news''. So I just collected more information. I do remember that I felt kind of impressed by how the 'attacks' were prepared, managed and put to action. Not siding with the criminal motivations, of course.

It was a brilliant plan, no debating that. However, your comment is rather disgusting to call it an "overrated event". That's really kind of sick. There have been many tragedies in the world involving political terrorism or just outright violent behavior, but you choose to rate them apparently.

I believe I understand WHY it happened, and it's not for the reasons that have been circulated for the past 25 years in the USA. Regardless of my knowledge, it was still a horrific event.

Myself being (originally) German... don't you thing that for myself I have reasons to feel ''disgusted'' by 'your' Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, napalm in Vietnam, and some other action? Even the recent visit of 'your ''USS Abraham Lincoln'' recently in my area was disgusting (to see how your folks behave and act ashore when 'not at home').

I was 9 and in class. I remember the guidance counselor coming door to door and telling us, all sobby and shit. But we did have our classes turned to free time so that was nice. Some kids got to go home early.

Unfortunately I saw it happen from the very beginning before they started editing it and saw people jumping out of the buildings to their death. I just pray that no one In their family saw what I saw. 🙏🏼

We had just moved offices, we were unpacking when word got around so we put TV on just as second tower got hit.
Worked in Central London, was a lot of misinformation about whether there maybe an attack there.

I was in 5th grade, I was coming back to class from Gym. The TV was on and the teacher was explaining what had just happened. We watched it all day. Even in the cafeteria it was on. I can't believe it's been that long because now I feel old.
