Its one thing being bullied by workers but if the boss indirectly sides with them, what can a soul do?

I had a boss thst bullied not only me but other employees as well
Anyway it took a little while but we all kept reporting him to the union and to HR and after 3 or 4 months they finally got their butts around to finally open his file to see how many of us had reported him the board got together not only did they fire his ass but they made him apologize to each and everyone, one at a time
I of course told him I meant what I said a few months back I flipped him off right in his face
My boss wasn’t happy but you could see she was laughing to herself about it
