They voted for $6 a gallon and endless wars. Why are they complaining now? They voted for a man who was a conman when he was a New York City Democrat back in the days and he is still scamming for their money as a Republican president.

Yeah, suddenly hurting minorities, (which is still near and dear to their hearts of course) is taking a second place to them being affected directly by higher prices and other issues like food contamination. I checked today... LP was a $1.65/gallon. I ordered a fill up. Might be time to switch🤷🏻
Contract price was $1.85. If I were a betting man, the cost in Jan/Feb will be about what it is today.

Dunno where you live but the spot price in CT today for LP is $4.12 per gallon as of a fwe minutes ago. Given that LP has about 50% lower energy density than heating oil, you'd need 1.5 gallons of LP to equal the thermal output of a gallon of heating oil. So price adjusted for energy density, LP is gonna cost you about $6.18 per gallon. Not exactly a winning plan. The energy industry isn't dumb. And oil and gas come out of the same wells.

Locking into a hedged supply from a supplier like Santa Energy has prices as low as $2.50 or $3.75 adjusted for energy density. Better but, not as good as the $2.849 or $1.89 adjusted for energy density I'm currently hedged for with oil.

And what equipment do you imagine switching over? Oil burning equipment can't be converted to LP with the flick of a switch. Anyone wanting to do that would need to lay out some serious capital expenditure to shift energy sources. And a spike in demand for LP will drive prices up.

Would depend on the efficiency rating of your boiler. You're correct that an up sized boiler would be needed to account for the lesser BTUs of LP, but you would also probably see an increase in efficiency. Cost effective? Probably not given the pricing in your neck of the woods. But that's crazy pricing for LP. It hit $4/gallon about 10 years ago and everyone that could, switched to NG. They're no longer happy given current pricing of LP. Though they do have more stable pricing.

New England has virtually zero regional energy reserves. No oil or gas. Everything we get is delivered by pipelines or ships or over the road trucking. And we have exactly zero oil refineries.
