I don’t. I’ve heard people talk bad about it a few times before, more like it’s not manly for dudes to use them or something. I suppose that would depend on the emojis being used 💅 lmfao.

But as a general rule, I think the facial expression and hand gesture emojis are very helpful sometimes in conveying tone and adding some in-person-esque color to an otherwise boring text. Or if you have to write some variation of “lol” two sentences in a row and you don’t want it to be repetitive (maybe only writing nerds like me even notice or care, lmfao), you can have a written laugh, and an emoji laugh to break it up.

Some people care about “crafting” their written responses; others are about speed and volume. I’d figure the latter are less likely to care about an individual text message or online post being all that flowery, and they’re not going to be bothered opening a different keyboard to fish through hundreds of emojis to find the right ones they want. I take a little more time, so for me, I don’t mind doing that.

Honestly, it doesn’t really matter either way. I’m certainly not gonna give anyone any grief over their refusal to use them, and I wouldn’t take anyone seriously who gave me grief because I do🤷‍♂️

I feel like this is just a new way of communicating in written form thats likely here to stay for the foreseeable future. i remember watching a documentary on how our own English language developed over time and people were talking without nearly as much punctuation as we do now or that the punctuation themselves changed (im guessing their were people bemoaning those changes to back then as well)... i kinda look at emoji's in that way. the written text is evolving.

Sounds about right. I remember seeing something in the last couple years about how adverbs are starting to disappear from speech. People don’t say, “There wasn’t any traffic, so I got home quickly.”, it’s “…so I got home QUICK.”

The odd one in a text no, people have added doodles to notes for centuries. But when their sentences are peppered with them then definitely yes, acceptable for a child playing around but not an adult.
