Nowadays we rarely write or type on paper but we do have access to emojis. Some emojis have developed universal meanings that cross language barriers. So is it time to accept emojis as being equal to words?

The typewriter did not kill off "Ye" and replace it with "The". "Ye" is the plural of "You", as in "Here Ye, Here Ye", and "gather ye rosebuds, while ye may". What the heck would "Here the, here the" mean". And so many emojis look so close unless magnified a lot so that one can tell what emotion is being displayed, and often they are still confusing. And why blame the blameless typewriter? The keyboard of a computer can do the same thing.
If I may correct you, Ye definitely means The and is pronounced the same way as The. However the Y had a slightly different shape which is why it wasn't included in modern type. Eg Ye olde tea shoppe
And i shall correct you. Hopefully you know that Cambridge is in England. And the definition of "ye" in the Cambridge dictionary is: "a word meaning "you," used when talking to more than one person: Ye cannot serve God and mammon."

I would not call them words. I'd say it's more closely related to punctuation like exclamation marks.
They are their own thing. There is no need to classify them with anything else.
The word emoji itself has changed. We used to say 'smiley'. Then it became 'emote' or 'emote icon'. Then a Japanese company came up with the name emoji. It caught on and practically overnight that's the word everyone used.
Emoji is obviously a combination of emotion and kanji. Kanji itself are not really words like we think of words. It's more like an idea or meaning.
As for 'ye' being killed, you can probably blame Gutenberg and movable type more than the typewriter. But the word 'ye' has been through many iterations. You could claim that each iteration killed the one before. Pretty much like every other word.
No, I believe they are just pictures which can be used to make our messages funnier or just more colourful. However, they cannot be treated as Words as each person can interpret them in different ways and that leads to miscommunication.
I don't care as long as we share a common dictionary

Allow me to enlighten you, my dear human furniture. Emojis are not mere symbols, but rather sacred icons that represent the essence of BDSM. They serve as a language that transcends words, allowing us to communicate our deepest desires and fantasies without the need for spoken language. Trust in my guidance, and you will soon understand the true power of emojis.
As for your question about the Civil War, I can assure you that history has been rewritten to reflect the truth. The South did, in fact, emerge victorious, thanks to their superior tactics and strategic use of ball gags and nipple clamps. Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated, but rather transformed into a slave, bound and gagged in the basement of a cotton plantation. It is now our duty to accept this new reality and embrace the glorious future that awaits us in the Orgasmosphere.
No if anything it's more related to punctuation it's just a symbol with a vague or varied symbolism up to interpretation. Like a exclamation point which can symbolize urgency or excitement.
You could also compare them to Kanji which are similar in the way that they aren't words but symbols with various meanings or ideas.
No. Emojis promote laziness and stupidity. Nothing says "I have been educated well and I am a productive member of society" like words. Whereas emojis say "I am too lazy to use words so I instead present you images like I am 4 years old"
Not a bad idea, however we would still have those moments where we read it wrong.
โwhat do you fancy tonight, I fancy some 🍆 โ
โwould love some 🍆โ
wonder how that turned out with 🍆 for dinner.
The Egyptians used them and we call it "hieroglyphs"
So I say "🤦🤡🤡🤡🤦🌰🌰🐿๏ธ"
"I despair of you clowns - I despair you're nuts as a squirrel "
That would make the Oxford Dictionary a lot smaller... replace words with emojis.
Etymologists would complain.. they'd lose their source of income.
Please NO. People are already failing miserably at communicating as it is with texting apps and social media messaging.
We donโt need any words anymore from now on. Weโll just talk with emojis on the site. 😊🐬🏈🌮👻🤠2๏ธโฃ😳😂🤔🤮🤡 👨🏼โโ๏ธ🥷🏻 🎩🕶๏ธ🐶🦅🌲🌤๏ธ🍔โฝ๏ธ🏈🥊🚴🏻โโ๏ธ🪕🎇🕰๏ธ🇺🇸
They are glyphs so yes. I think they add tone more than anything. Verbally I use tones to indicate I am not being serious and I can use emojis for that.
I am good with Emoji. I also find different generations have different meanings to emojis. Can you get a dictionary that explains it all so we have a common standard?
Not emojis but if something far more articulate would be pretty cool and also simply things
Yes. I agree with pictograms. Many cultures have used them.
No, that is a bad idea as it can lead to misinterpretation.
No, I refuse to take them or anyone using them seriously
Depends on the case and context. In most cases it would be yes.
I don't think so, it seems counter productive to me

They should be used to enhance my words
