Israel isn't a semitic country, young chap.
Only in the sense that countries can not be considered Semitic, because the term refers to both languages and peoples. According to Merriam-Webster:
" Semite Definition
Semite noun
Sem·ite ˈse-ˌmīt especially British ˈsē-ˌmīt
1a : a member of any of a number of peoples of ancient southwestern Asia including the Akkadians, Phoenicians, Hebrews, and Arabs
b. : a descendant of these peoples
2: a member of a modern people speaking a Semitic language
Israel and the Jewish population as a whole decided 75 years ago that the term "Semite" refers only and specifically to them, and began using it as such. Hence, the term "anti-Semite" came to mean anti-Jewish or the State of Israel.
Technically, by definition, most of the Middle East population are Semites. If you're anti-Semitic, you're anti much more than just Israel.
" Semitic refers to a group of languages that includes Hebrew, Arabic, and Aramaic, as well as to the peoples who speak these languages, particularly in the Middle East. "
