Why do some white diversity supporters avoid living in diverse neighborhoods?

My real title was "Why is it that most Pro diversity white people don't want to live in diverse areas themselves?" but GAG AI changed it when it posted.

Democrats are usually extreme hypocrites. I live in a fairly affluent town where you need a decent job to be able to afford to live there. Most of thjr people in town vote Republicsn.
In the next town the residents are among the wealthiest in the state. They all have BLM and"Hate has no place here" lawn signs and overwhelmingly vote democrat. There is not a person of color within 5 miles.

Thanks for the MHO

There has been studies that pro-diversity White people are more likely to flee from diverse communities than then white conservatives.

Same thing with those "no one is illegal on stolen land" people who won't surrender their property to illegals.

It's virtue signaling. Most of these people don't understand what they claim to stand for. Instead, they jump on whatever fad will win them prestige today. None of them really mean it. Just ask a few questions and see it fall apart.

I think there can be a real gap between supporting diversity as a principle and actually wanting to live in a highly diverse neighborhood. But I wouldn’t assume that every white person who supports diversity is being hypocritical.

People choose neighborhoods for lots of reasons: schools, crime rates, housing prices, commute, family, familiarity, and what they’re comfortable with. Sometimes race is part of the decision, either consciously or unconsciously, but sometimes it has little to do with it.

That said, if someone talks passionately about the value of racial diversity while deliberately avoiding diverse neighborhoods because they simply don't want to live around certain racial groups, I can understand why people would see that as inconsistent. Supporting diversity is easier to talk about than actually sharing space, schools, and communities with people who are different from you.

That's a good question, perhaps it could be because they don't want the value of their property to decrease, or maybe because they don't want things stolen from their yard and house. Not sure though

They think a black lives matter sign in their front yard is gonna keep them from getting robbed.

It's not just Whitey, Oprah wouldn't be caught dead living in a diverse neighborhood. (Pun intended)

[jshm2]

They don't "avoid" it. Most cannot afford it.

[Tooredpilledtohandle]

Are you saying they can't afford the safety risk or that diverse areas are more expensive but are desirable places to live?

[Pterodon]

Good one. Another is why do some liberals support defunding police and all have private security with fences?

[FreyaRed]

Because diversity is for you not for them
