If you want to come into the nation then you will do it the legal way you will be vetted and you will be tested and prioritized based on whether you can speak English and if you have any useful to offer the nation in regards to practical skills, education and abilities.
If you come in illegally you will be sent back to the place you came from. And if your a current legal citizen here you will obey the law and you will earn your place in society and the nation. Just like anyone else.10 Reply

+1 yumm... assuming you mean other races... I'm a "white" guy who doesn't hate other races or ethnicities. I've had crushes on all kinds of women; Race has never been an issue for me. I don't know if it's been an issue for any of the women I've had crushes on (who knows)...

A lot of people hate diversity because they think how they live is perfect and that everyone else is lower in comparison. It sucks.

+1 yWhite people don't hate diversity, some of us just don't think that "minorities" deserve to be just given something that we have to work hard for just because of their skin color/gender/sexuality.

@karahiri They have all of the opportunities that white people have, that's called equal opportunity.
There's no sense in focusing so much on who wronged who in the past; every race has been screwed over by another race and every race has screwed over another race at some point throughout history.
When we start giving people things just because they're not white, not male or not straight we're justifying discrimination.
Hell, I'm white and I had to work for everything that I had. I didn't come from a privileged or rich background, I've struggled through poverty and just as many things as many others have. So please tell me why it's fair that, just because a literal handful of the population is super loaded and happens to be white, minorities and/or women can be hired over me, even if I'm more qualified, to fill a "diversity quota"? Get more benefits?
I've been unemplyed and homeless before and I couldn't even get fucking food stamps. So you tell me how that's right. - +1 y
Have you ever had someone question where you live because your skin color doesn't make sense in that neighborhood? Have you ever been singled out in a crowd and had your bag searched because you look the part? Has someone questioned your intelligence and career goals because of your gender? I've experienced all of the above. I acknowledge that you have struggled in your life- we all have. Those programs that give a chance to minorities are just an attempt to undo centuries of explicit and implicit racism. The undercurrent still runs through our society today. I'm not saying those programs are effective and getting at the root cause- I don't know -how- to fix that issue. But I can understand why people might want to try. Being given an opportunity to work someplace that you might not ever been able to before is an attempt to help minorities move up in the world and progress so that such programs will not be needed anymore- things will naturally be diverse and people will -have-

@karahiri, Can you name me some of these programs specifically? I've never had someone question where I live because of my skin color, nor have I been singled out and searched because of it. I read somewhere that a white man applying to Harvard was rejected in place of a black man, despite being much more qualified for admission. That seems grossly unfair and blatantly unjust in my opinion. I don't think that should be the solution.

@PoliceLivesMatter That happened to me just this summer. In my own neighborhood. That I've been living in for the last ~14 years. I've had my bag searched repeatedly at the train station while my white friends passed through without incident. Just a fact of life I've had to accept. As for the programs, I'm talking about affirmative action. I agree that this is not the best solution.

@karahiri Yes, I have been singled out because of my skin color. One of my Hispanic friends from work was telling me about some apartments that he was renting out and he said that he wouldn't feel comfortable renting to me because I'm white and the neighborhood would be dangerous for me. I've also been singled out and searched numerous times as well; the last time that I traveled across the country, I was searched at least four times. The one time, my girlfriend and I were worried that it might be some kind of scam at first, because they were asking how much money I had on me and they wanted to go through all of our stuff.
And my point still stands, discrimination is discrimination. In this country, males and females of all races have equal opportunity. There is no institutionalized racism or sexism holding any one of us back from that we want to be in life or where we want to go. - +1 y
@karahiri And things like affirmative action don't give people the skill to excel, they perpetuate the mindset that women and people of color can't do things on their own at best and, at worst, they encourage them to feel entitled.
That's why I don't believe in feminism, because women are capable of doing things on their own without help. Women can be strong and feminism just tells them that they're weak and that they're victims. This country treats a lot of minorities that way too "they can't do it on their own, so let's do it for them".
Stop stereotyping. It only shows how little you know about the people you're talking about. How would I sound to you if I asked, "How come all black people do this?" Or "Why do all Mexicans think that?" Or " Why do all gay guys act like this?" I'd sound like a prejudiced fool, that's how I'd sound. Get to know actual people, and stop defining people by the boxes you put them in.

+1 yNot really. I'm white. I just don't like the middle eastern culture on how they treat women. They come to our western countries and pester our nicely dressed women. To be honest if we had pur women dressed over there they would probably get raped. They are animals down there, India, Iraq, Syria. Women are raped many times even gang raped.
