At what age does having children start to seem irresponsible for men?

I believe that if a man has always wanted to be a Dad, but it had taken a long period of time to finally meet someone and get married that he should still be able to become a Dad, just as he's had that desire in his heart probably for many many years. It wouldn't be fair to deprive him from his dream to be a father.

My half brother was a middle school teacher at age 24 until he retired at age 62.

He got married and right away they had a baby girl. I asked him why he waited so long to have children. His answer was because he wanted to stop working and give his children 100% of his time and be there to watch them grow up. So he waited until he was 63 on purpose.

For a man to start a family, I think that whenever he wants to. He doesn't have a clock ⏰ that's ticking like women do.

thats a cool story. However my father started a new family after he divorced my mother. He was in his 50s and his new daughter was 14 when he died.

Honestly I dont think there is any set age where it suddenly becomes irresponsible.

It depends way more on whether the man is actually ready emotionally, financially and physically to raise a child well. Plenty of guys have kids in their forties and do a great job.

Once someone gets into their late fifties or sixties people might start wondering about energy levels and how much time the dad will really have with the kid growing up. But even then it comes down to the individual more than the number.

A younger guy who is not prepared can be just as irresponsible as an older one. Maturity and commitment matter more than the birthday.
