Well, that’s not really a true or false statement. I don’t believe it’s possible to starve yourself to death out of sheer will, or lack thereof. Once you’re hungry enough, you will find a way to eat. If a person is otherwise able-bodied, they can choose day labor or even steal their food. Hopefully the experience is compelling enough to motivate them to get a job.
At the very least, hopefully they have applied themselves to cultivating relationships with people on whom they can rely.
All of that said, i am in favor of ending entitlement programs. These programs cease to be cost effective if we employ enough people and systems to ensure that there is no fraud or abuse. So when the honor system fails, we should simply end the program. Certainly there are enough bleeding heart liberals willing to give away everything they own to make sure that criminals and deadbeats don’t go hungry. The rest of us can take care of ourselves and our closest family and friends.

I would like to see a system where the government offers them jobs to pay for the food they get at the end of their work day. Maybe like scooping up human crap off the sidewalk, cleaning graffiti on walls or picking up litter along the highway.
But don't give him cash, because we know what they'll do with that, give them food vouchers.

And in a way you can't blame them for being lazy, because the government rewards them for it.
The Trump team even said if they would be willing to take an online class, that would be all they need to collect their snap benefits. How awesome would that be? You just sit on the couch taking an online class and collect free money.
