Late term abortions are typically only done to save the life of the mother.

The equivalent to late term abortion is turning off the ventilator when someone is brain-dead. There are no voluntary third trimester abortions, never have been. They are performed only when the fetus is non-viable or the mother's life is endangered.

Multiple doctors AND patients have testified before congress that “failed” abortions where the infant survives have resulted in executing a baby in the operating room. It happens so frequently that some blue states have legislated protections for doctors and parents who participate in what is absolutely cold blooded murder by any standard.
