Why do so many people think the pinnacle of morality is to avoid offending people?

Doesn't everyone learn to tell the truth when they're kids? You often end up having to lie in order to avoid offending, which is ridiculous. Making the truth known is FAR more important than avoiding offending people, especially given how irrational or manipulative many people are. The claims of offense mainly seem to come from women.

For example, if you call a woman fat, you'll almost certainly be berated and possibly corrected into calling her "big-boned" despite the fact that she is indeed fat. "Big-boned". Her bones aren't even visible because of how fat she is. Another example is "mansplaining" which ended up simply being used to stop any man from explaining anything to a woman. How stupid can you be to avoid explaining something to someone simply because you're a man and she's a woman? Ridiculous. Feelings are not that important. If civilization wasn't so safe we would not be hearing these stupid complaints about offense so often.
