What is the minimum cost of living in your country? How much money does an average person need to make ends meet?

In Nigeria, the cost of living depends on the city and a person's lifestyle. Things like food, rent, transportation, and electricity can be quite expensive these days. An average person might need around ₦150,000–₦300,000 a month to cover basic expenses, depending on where they live, though rent can make it much higher. Despite the challenges, Nigeria is a beautiful country with rich culture, delicious food, and warm, welcoming people. 🇳🇬 What about your country? Is the cost of living affordable where you live?

It depends where you live and what technology you have and also what your lifestyle is. If you eat a Chinese diet, your grocery bill will be much lower than somebody who eats a Western diet. Chinese people eat rice, which is cheap, they eat rice porridge, which is cheap, they eat eggs, which is cheap, they eat eggplant, which is cheap.

I find prices at Chinese grocery stores are sometimes 5x lower than prices at Western grocery stores, for certain items, obviously not for everything, but if you are desperate to save money, you will notice the cheaper items, even they are less than 2% of the entire store.

And if you cannot afford a gym membership, it is very easy, take the bus to the mall, and walk for 3 hours around the mall, that is how my doctor works out in the winter time, he walks in the mall for 3 hours a day when he is not at work to burn calories and lose weight.

I live in California, one of the most expensive states in my country.

It really depends on what the individual person wants, but if they’re like me and just want a place that has enough space to where you don’t feel crammed, has onsite laundry amenities, has good insulation and the area isn’t notorious for being loud at night and is safe?

Most places that fit those criteria cost anywhere from 1.7-2.3 thousand a month for a one bedroom one bathroom. From there some places allow pets and others don’t and some have utilities included in rent and others don’t

both the USA and Mexico... are vastly vast vast'ing countries...

with many different regions and dynamics... and therefore will vary greatly and a lot, depending on where exactly you are

[Levin]

That's a hard question to answer because it depends on a lot of factors and lifestyle.

I think you can sort of make ends meet here with a £2000 per month after tax income. Rent starts at like £900 for a shit-heap.

[Levin]

Really, you need to be in a relationship or live with family. Or have a decently above average salary income. Otherwise, it's kind of shit.

[Levin]

And that's not in my country. That's just in my region.

The country? My area of the country? Or me? Because they're 3 different numbers.

Average person in my country almost 79,000

In my area? Just over 47,000

Me a little over 33,000. And i just invest the rest.

$100,000 is about the bare minimum for 2 people and no debt.

[bowenw]

It was far more affordable in small towns, but there aren't as many job opportunities.

To barely get by and meet all of your necessary bills, between $25 & $30/hour for a 40 hour week.

Currently in the USA in my opinion it has gotten far worse in the past 2 years. ugggg
