You can't be the "scientific party" when you are opposed to all technology and keep insisting that we need to return to horse and buggy and ban data centers. Do you people realize a horse consums 10 acres worth of grass continually just to stay alive? That's more destructive to the environment than an automobile ever could be.
The big problems with data centers and the real reasons behind opposing them is they use huge amounts of clean water and electricity, and strain the electric grid causing problems for nearby humans. They are high polluters and energy users.
Also data centers employ few people, so their coming to a community is not an employment boon. And most centers want giant tax breaks despite the burden these centers put on communities: usually for decades.
Lastly, there is no definable boon that AI will give ordinary folk. No one is talking about returning to horse and buggy days. That isn't an apt comparison.
What kinds of jobs will AI provide for communities? At what costs to those communities? If AI centers are not paying taxes, how are they providing income to the communities they are situated in? If they are a strain on the infrastructure and aren't paying taxes to upgrade the infrastructure, how are they helping the communities they move into?
I love computer access and how computers have made knowledge available. AI hasn't proven itself and there are a lot of kinks to work out. AI should not get a free ride into communities until those kinks are worked out.

For one thing, all data centers are not your friends. They're surveillance data centers, private information collection centers, re-marketing centers, and a host of other privacy invading electronic information gathering. Then there's the noise which is not just painful, it's detrimental to your well being as a human and other animal life as well.
There's damage to the surrounding water tables and no, it's not an entirely closed system that re-uses its own water supply. They also significantly drive UP the cost of electricity to the community while significantly driving DOWN property value, but somehow, taxpayers don't pay any less in property tax.
The Chinese and Japanese have, of course, solved much of these problems by submerging their data centers. No, it's not the greatest thing for marine life, but they chose that over the harm to humans and their land based environment.
Data center hate has zero to do with party affiliation. Just put a few in the largest Republican neighborhoods and see what happens. Your strawman about Dems being anti technology has no basis in truth whatsoever. If any group wants to return to the 50's and 60's, it would be the GOP, but I won't waste time on that one either.
The Democrat party's leaders presently want to ban all fossil fuels. The alternative is either ride a horse, or buy an electric automobile which costs twice as much as a combustion auto, double the insurance cost, and double the maintenance and repairs cost too.
Oh yeah, the Democrats have for decades banned all new Nuclear construction and technology, even though we know how to make Thorium breeder reactors which can never meltdown.

The rate of Type 2 Diabetes and Diabetic Nerve Pain has gone up exponentially since the GMO foods industry was legalized. I don't think that's a coincidence.
As a person with Type 2 Diabetes, I can tell you I eat MUCH LESS than the USA RDA of food per day, and I'm still 30 pounds overweight. If you eat what they tell you to eat (3 or 4 servings fo fruit per day and 6 to 11 servings of grain per day) you will BECOME type 2 diabetic even if you are not already T2 diabetic. The human body is not designed to eat that many carbohydrates every day.
The food certaonly doesn't help but there's np denying that the vast majority of obesity cases are caused by eating double, triple, quadruple what a person should eat. A family bucket of kfc for instance is meant for a family of 4 not for 1 person.
People are becominng diabetic because they have sugar for breakfast, lunch and dinner with sugary snacks thrown in wasked down with a bucket of coco~cola and sup energy drinks all day.

@BlackFalcon03 I agree with that, but I only eat 1600 calories per day, and I'm supposed to be a natural 185lbs man, but I weight 217lbs today and for the life of me I cannot lose another pound even though starvation nor exercise. There is something wrong with the food. I'm telling you. It doesn't quench your thirst or hunger, and actually makes you hungrier when you eat it.

There some environmental concerns, water consumption being one I know of. Honestly, though, it seems to be rural conservatives the most up in arms about them, because it’s their areas that they’re trying to build them on, on viable farm land in a lot of cases

Water cooling is the cleanest technology possible. You DON'T want to know what the next cleanest option is, because that's Ammonia cooling, which is highly toxic.

Here's my single concern about data centers. The US is not building any nuclear power plants. For each data center being built it needs to provide its own energy. We're going to end up having brown outs or our bills will triple.

I've worked in a data center before. The only thing i hated about it was my boss was a "hovering" idiot, and liked to micro-manage everything to the point that I quit the job because of it.
I don't like it either. The water consumption is staggering. Estimated usage is 489B gallons in the next 2 years. 80% is evaporative. I don't like field tiling either though.
