The issue isn't historical.
Both sides lay claims to the land and often use history. Certainly, there is truth there on both sides.
The issue is reality. The Arabs lost. 🤷‍♂️
For someone like me, it's far easier to support Israel in this recognizing that historically they've largely fought defensively, and most of those enemies have made peace with it.
Palestine isn't exactly the most trust worthy "victim" and yet they have much support (which is collapsing) in the world.

Yes, there is a historical side.
However, if we get stuck on the "whoever owned it at one certain time has claim" then the world will look far different.

Gaza is already an open-air prison under blockade. In the West Bank, a dual legal system prevails, meaning an Arab has no chance whatsoever before the law against a Jew, and dispossession continues. As for the Arabs in Israel, they make up one-third of the regional Arabs, and with the Nation-State Law enacted in 2018, they have been structurally marginalized, while state investments and employment are directed solely at Jews.

Jews themselves oppose the principle of all Arabs becoming equal citizens under the umbrella of Israel.
