Could Greece and Türkiye go to war over the maritime deal with Libya?

Türkiye opposes Greece extending its territorial waters from 6 to 12 nautical miles and argues that Greek islands should not limit its maritime rights.

Under its 2019 agreement with Libya, Türkiye claims the right to explore for natural gas in the disputed areas shown in red.

Could Greece and Türkiye go to war over the maritime deal with Libya?

Greece argues that its islands, including Crete and Rhodes, have their own maritime rights under international law.

It rejects the 2019 Türkiye-Libya agreement, claiming it ignores Greek islands and overlaps with areas Greece considers part of its continental shelf and exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

Of course, this isn't the only issue between Greece and Türkiye. Greece claims maritime rights over almost the entire Aegean Sea, disputes Türkiye's position on the status of the islands, and has militarized islands that Türkiye argues should remain demilitarized under the Treaty of Lausanne and other agreements.

Then there's the Cyprus issue. The island is divided between Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, and British sovereign military bases. Greece doesn't recognize Northern Cyprus, and Europe generally backs Greece.

So as you can see, there are plenty of unresolved issues between the two countries.

Now, Türkiye is unlikely to take military action unless it's attacked first. But some analysts suggest Greece might attempt a limited preemptive strike, targeting Turkish military facilities with fighter f35 jets before pulling back and seeking support from the US, Europe, and of course Chaosistan.

If something like that happened, how would Europe and the US react? Would Greece receive the same kind of military and financial support Ukraine has received against Russia?

What do you think?

Yeah guys, I also think going to war over territory is ridiculous, especially over the whole 12 nautical mile territorial waters dispute in the Aegean or Cyprus. There's no point in it, and nobody would gain anything. I'm not sure if a war could break out over the supposedly massive natural resources in the Eastern Mediterranean.
