Why do girls call each other pretty?

I see it on facebook, myspace, and in school in real life. They are always like I love you and your really really pretty. why do they do that? I don't see guys call each other handsome. I don't even see GIRLS CALL GUYS hot if they aren't going out.

Because girls are usually honest with each other more then guys.

I get called pretty by my friends and she will be like "I love you"

Well. Not like "love" like lesbian.

But sisterly love.

Its easier to tell a friend they look pretty instead of calling someone hot.

Some guys don't care how they look. But women are more self-conscious

then guys. So its nice to hear that we are pretty every once in awhile

Girls are just more in touch with their emotions and notice things like clothes/shoes/makeup etc. It's just a way of being friendly. No different to guys complimenting each other on cars or gadgets.

We compliment because we care for how we look and take real pains for it. We wax, thread, bleach, shop for clothes, get accessories to match and what not. But guys are not known for going through all that.

Infact I read somewhere that guys dress up only on marriages and funerals while girls do that everywhere even when they have to dump garbage.

So, tell me who deserves more compliments - one who puts in efforts or one who doesn't ?

I compliment my friends because I like to hear them back, not in a vain way though. most girls are insecure about the way that they look, and a compliment, even from friends is really nice to hear.
