Why would this girl keep calling me "dear"?

First of all yes, I know that "dear" is a very common word that old and young women use all the time. Having said that, in this case, this girl doesn't use that word all the time on everybody, so the fact that she "uses" it on me, makes me wonder (and yes, sometimes she is around her male friend and she has not said it once to them). SO up until 3 weeks ago, we didn't really talk much, its like we felt this strong animosity towards each other. One day we just started talking and now we talk all the time.

At first she wouldn't say my name, now she says it. The after that, she started dropping "dear" here and there while talking to me. In my case, I usually feel weird if I don't use those kinds of words and start using one on a girl, makes it seem too obvious.

Has any of you used a term of endearment on a single individual without it meaning anything?

i have used it in many ways...one being if I feel exceptionally close to a friend or something but I will NEVER use it in a demeaning way like most girls do towards other girls or guys. I'm not a butch. I also say I live you to people I feel close to but not in the I love you ay...its all about context

sometimes I don't mean to say it but do and realize I'm into them and it slipped...but most of the time its just a type of endearment that's more then hey frirnd but less them I'm in love/like with you

yes, I call a lot of my friends hun or dear and I just use it as a friendly name.

Yes, but what if you didn't call your friends hun or dear and you started using it randomly on a single person?

it may be her suble way of saying she likes you without saying it...context really...also your sure she doesn't say it to others...some people act weird about it or look to much inti it...those friends or people I won't use it with

It could just be a habit, I have friends that use the word love to everybody and they are younger than me.

Is she Asian? Asians tend to use this word a lot.
