My boyfriend's uncle died....he just told me...do I send a card?

He called me later in the day...I'm not sure what to do in situations like this...I tried my best to comfort him over the phone...he seemed fine...I told him that I'd get in my car right away just to drive and give him a hug...

We both have really packed schedules...he was up for two days studying for a big exam...and I never want to bother him (even though he insists I don't). It was his moms half brother that lived in a mental home for a while...they saw him last a couple years ago...

My boyfriend still lives at home while he's in college...and I visit him at least once a week..and I always see his family there...

I told him to give his family my condolences...I was going to send a card to his house...but is that enough? The funeral is far away...and his parents are going to drive there...I wanted to stop by his house and give my sympathy in person...but at the same time...I don't want to interrupt my bf's studying...because he has another huge exam in a couple days...and whenever I come over...he forgets about what he has to do...and he won't get anything done...and I practically have to pull him off of me to leave.

Is sending flowers to his mom even appropriate?

I don't have much experience...or $$ for that matter...any advice?
