Do teachers notice who has a crush on who?

Do they pay attention to which student likes another student? Do they seat them near each other or assign them to be partners in class?
I have a feeling they know who is interested in who

I think so. My 8th grade math teacher always paired me with this guy I hated because he thought it was funny how I would insult him all the time. We had this weird love/hate relationship going on. I remember once me and that kid were competing against each other, we were the only 2 left, and he said something stupid. I blatantly told him he was incapable of doing math and my teacher was laughing so hard, he started turning red =P

They call it "shipping"... I haven't seen much of it since I started subbing, but when I was doing my pre clinical hours I heard teachers talking about it more than once. It was harmless stuff like assigning seats and partnering up. Nothing serious. When I get my own classroom I do not think I would ever do that.

In grade 7 my teacher new who everyone in the class likes it was great and she knew who I had a crush on and sat me next to him :p

i think it would be unprofessional for a teacher to mess around in students lives like this. because even i student a has a crush of student b, student b may not feel the same.

they probably notice who likes who, but i highly doubt they do anything about it.

Yes they know that. They have this kind of ability to know who has a crush on who. Lol
