Soccer (for nearly a decade) Swim team (I wish I had stuck with it for longer than I did) Dive team (Beginner) Cross country (I was terrible) I think it would be fun to join an adult soccer league, just for fun
My first formal sport was in the 8th grade when I started wrestling. I also did track, soccer, physical fitness team, gymnastics. On my own I was a pretty serious bicycle rider, riding 30-50 miles a day when the weather permitted.
There were virtually no organized sports when I was younger. The only one was Little League, which I didn't do. Other than that there were no organized sports until high school.
Around the neighborhood, I did the big three like almost everyone else: baseball, football and basketball. We were almost always active. If we weren't doing those, we were running around doing something, riding bicycles, climbing trees, playing "smear the queer", swimming - pretty much anything.
Soccer, little league baseball (boys teams), girls softball, cross country and swimming. I still run almost every day in the warmer weather. Play softball on a mixed Jack and Jill team I've learned to tone down my competitiveness just a notch around other gals who aren't as good or competitive as I am. Had to realize some gals are there to do something with their guy so I understand and don't get as excited when a play doesn't work. I still try to get to the pool once a week in the winter to swim laps. Keeps me active and in the kind of shape my husband likes!
I tried basketball for a month (due to constantly being told that I would fit for it), but gave up because I grew to hate it. Then some tried to convince me to try dragon boat canoeing because I seem strong (never did though). Lastly I settled with self defense, which isn't considered a sport, but for the sake of this question it's close enough.
Yes. Go and join an adult soccer league today. It IS really fun. I do find the "Pay to Play" model for soccer in the US slightly weird, but the benefits outweigh that.
When I was young, I used to be a goalkeeper. But now I've transitioned to a defender, sometimes full back.
The difficult part for me is playing with 20 year-olds at the local university on the weekends. They're great fun to play with - but they're also a lot faster than I am so that's a challenge. But it's a fun challenge.
I raced dirt bikes and went from awful to top of amateur in my area before it got dangerous. I loved it, but I didn't get that team building stuff... oddly though I'm a great team player at work. I then took up golf. backyard football...
not sure about the soccer now... might be able to do it at your age, at 40... too much risk. start losing stuff now unless you work hard to maintain it! e. g. I can do some things better now, but I don't heal fast and easier to injur. thats how age works...
I did soccer athletics for a few years and also did long distance running and half marathons (which I still do today) and picked up competitive road cycling. I went to nationals a few times and my coach got me into triathlon. Went to internationals 2 years in a row and then stopped because of my HSC. Now I’m just training when I can and competing every now and then ☺️
Okay, I was into Basketball as a kid. Unfortunately, as an Elementary school kid, there was no team at the time.
I never was into soccer. Soccer was pretty much the only sport around that had a team. Other sport had clubs. My parents though I should join, so I did. For two years. It was terrible.
I tried doing some archery, but I'm terrible at that.
I don't think I'll do a sport. I mainly run to work out. I plan on trying a martial art once I'm in college.
4 years of kickboxing, 3 years (and currently on going) skateboarding, 3 years of self taught freerunning AKA i'm not very good but i can find my way, Rooftopping, and my favorite hobby: urban exploring.
Football (coming from England I can't call it Soccer), cricket, cross country, tennis etc. Still pay football and tennis to a mediocre level... were you good at football/soccer? What position you play?
I danced and did vaulting (gymnastics on horses) Stopped doing all that when I decided to be a rebellious teen. Sucks because my cousin went on to win the Olympics but hey
I played soccer for 11 years. My dad was a basketball coach and a player and my mum was w basketball player, so I played basketball. I played handball for two years. And I played volleyball for three years. Other sports I played recreationally.
