So my little sister is going into her freshman year in High school and is trying out for the team. She has never played in a league or on a team before and she recently had a spark of interest in basketball. She has height and I know she can make the team but has a lot to work on which is why i am going to train her now since tryouts are in like December or January. For any female or male basketball players or coaches, what do tryouts look for to make the team? If all tryouts consist of different things, what is one thing that remains consitentent across high schools? I really want her to make the team since I never got a chance to make the team since my parents wouldn't take me to get my physical. But I will make sure she's ready and I know how to get her right on defense buy it's mostly offense I need advice on training her.
Make certain it is her natural sport of choice. Two-handed dribble is number one. Dribble and slow steps forward. Coach needs Vision…something to work with. Good luck 🍀

So this really is gonnna be hard but not impossible.
Research the coach email him or her ask about getting in the summer workouts.
That is big. Most coaches mindset is. If you showed up to all summer workouts you deserve a spot.
But more details needed on her. How tall? How fast is she?
Help determine what fundimentals needed.
But she gonna need a personal trainer. By the high school time frame most people on the team already have years of experience. She needs to solidify her fundamentals, work on free throws. Dribbling stance there is a lot to work on. Learning how to read plays.
Ballhandling is going to be hard for her at this point.
She needs to be able hit cuts. But start with dribbling and shooting. Slowly work on walking and to jogging to running while dribbling.
Take baby step
