I'm a newborn American football fan, what do I do to get into it?

I'm Swedish, conservative and Christian and haven't hitherto been informed much on American football, I've played it once at camp when two players from the US came to teach us the basics but lately I've been thinking of what team I'd support if I was to get into it. Now the choice has been made abundantly easy via the events with Chiefs player Butker's address to his Roman Catholic classmates on traditional views regarding motherhood and women which was ardently defended by his teammates, his coach and even NFL. This team also seems like the quintessential midwestern corn-fed American group which, if I have positive connotations with the US, that is always where my mind goes. Strong, reliable and good-values men. Now the only question is how do you go about "getting into it", as someone entirely new to this world, any football fans here who could give a few tips or pointers?

Although you can be fan of any team for any reason most Americans are inclined to favor the local team the Chiefs being the Missouri and Kansas team. It is worth noting however that players don't necessarily represent their teams values nor are products of said region.
Although Teams do to some extent need to cater to local regional values to to maintain their support base.

Thus said players position on the Missouri and Kansas Team is a little more stable than say if he played for the patriots but not that big of a difference. Lots of football players get into lot of trouble.

I too am a traditional Catholic and a Kansas City Chiefs fan. I've met Harrison Butker a few times at Mass. He's a great man. At least 100% of his detractors are lying about him. Unlike them, I actually listened to and understood his speech as intended.

Just start turning your TV on in Sept and from then to early Feb you will see all the football you want every Mon, Thurs, Sun, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

It varies and most streaming sites have the NFL Network which is all the games.

Start watching as many games as possible once the season starts (early September). Whatever team you decide to be a fan of STAY WITH that team. Look for a team that plays the style you can identify with. (strong defense, high scoring offense, superstar players) Being a die hard fan can test your resolve. I've been an Eagles 🦅 fan for 36 years. They have won the Super Bowl ONE TIME.

Best way is to become friends with other American football fans. Easiest way to do that is to go to a local sports bar on Sunday afternoon. You'll find lots of people there watching their favorite team, as well as other teams. Be friendly with them... you should soon "get into it". Once you're "into it" at the sports bar, go to a game in person. You'll be amazed at the thousands of people there.

you better stay away from the NFL

also... true fans do not like fake fans like that either

won't be an experience that any side will enjoy... if you like the sport, then do or watch the sport, that's it

Never said I looked for values at the NFL. I said I found my team due to their values and how they treated each other. As good a reason as any to choose a team and a reason I know for a fact I share with many others.

well... one thing is very true about the NFL, which is similar to religion

forgive and forget about it... even if you've beat children, women, dogs, and elders alike, both Church and the NFL will welcome you back, no problem
