Male ballet dancers do exist but most ballet dancers are female.
Ballet is a sport. Do your research.
Male ballet dancers do exist but most ballet dancers are female.
If you define a sport as a physical activity that requires a high amount of skill then yes, I think ballet would fall into that definition. But I think that most people view it more as a form of entertainment.
But whether you want to view it as a sport or as entertainment, I think it is a feminine activity. If I could name one element that is at its core, it would be delicate and graceful movements. That's about females since their physiology is designed for that kind of movement and they are more physically graceful than men.
Also, unlike many other sports, ballet is not seen as "competitive" in the usual sense. Yes, there are probably competitions somewhere as to who can do the best pirouett or some such thing, but the craft is not about competition as is the case with most sports. And that also lends itself to a feminine nature as men are all about competition... especially involving physical prowess... much more so than women. So the lack of that element also contributes to the femininity of ballet.
The fact that some men participate in ballet is not an indication that it isn't feminine. Some men are gay too.
I think there is a debate whether ballet is a sport or not because ballet involves things like physical strength, flexibility and athleticism.
Ballet usually doesn’t have competitions like player 1 vs player 2 or team 1 vs team 2.
The most popular and most other sports like soccer, football, netball, basketball, tennis, baseball, boxing, hockey and swimming do have these competitions in pretty much every game.
I think you are right about those points.
No its not.
Your welcome
No. If people knew how hard both male and female ballet dancers train it’d be more respected; and less regarded as a feminine sport. Dancing in general is hard on the body which is also why a lot of people aren’t gifted dancers. With ballet you have to be as strong as a line backer but move with grace and elegance and you can’t show an ounce of pain or discomfort. Four breaks in your shin? What’re you gonna do cry? No! Keep going. Misty Copeland said she had four breaks in her leg but she chose to keep going and hope her leg didn’t give out. If she chose not to dance that night she had the breaks we probably wouldn’t know who she is. Ballet is just as unforgiving as any athletic career.
No, it's a very hard dance. Hardest actually.

While ballet is considered a sport by many, in my opinion it's not. It does require great athleticism and physical ability, but I think of sports as something more like direct competition. Where you're literally on the field with the opposing team.
Yes you can compete in ballet, but it's more in the sense of ratings and reviews. That's what dance is. It's more of an art than it is a sport.
And yes, I definitely think ballet is feminine and I'd say it's likely the man is gay if he does it. In a 1997 study, estimated anywhere from 50% to 65% of men in ballet we're gay. And those were in the times that looked down on being gay. Now we live in woke times, which promote being gay, so I'd guess the percentage of gay men in ballet is even higher now. Probably around 90%.
First off ballet isn't a sport any more than An AC/DC concert is a sport. It's an art. There are no teams and no points awarded. Nobody "wins" ballet. You either enjoy it or you don't. Personally I'd rather mow my lawn and rake leaves than sit through a ballet performance.
Ballet is a sport
Also ballet competitions do exist
Ballet isn't a sport. It's a very physical, athletic skill, certainly, but not a sport. Sport requires competition and scoring.
And, yes, it tends to be feminine, though of course there are some men involved too.
It's kind of like high-end cheerleading - it's mostly female, but for flyers, you need male bases.
Yeah it’s feminine.
And that’s not a bad thing
Men can do ballet and many do it but let’s not pretend it’s somehow also masculine because it’s not.
They just have to do it while accepting the femininity of the activity and it’s no one’s place to judge
Ballet is predominantly a feminine dance sport certainly.
Some dances suit male physiques best (e. g rap), some suit female physiques (e. g shuffle). Partner dances suit both but women add the grace notes while men are the beat.
I think partner dancing is best.
Ballet is the intimate showing of the human body. The skin tight outfits that both men and women wear shoes every bulge, bump and muscle of the body, not much different than if they were nude.
Most people would disagree with your update. A sport involves a competition, where there are winners and losers. Ballet is an exhibition, not a sport.
Dancers are ranked on their abilities just like any other sport. It's like saying high-diving isn't a sport... And then getting giddy about those people wearing next to nothing while they do it.
@fishcake_buttie Yes, dancers are rated by the producers of the ballet companies, like a boss rates their employees in any job, but you won't see them on a scoreboard like you see for divers.
Dancers are rated by judges who watch performances, not their teachers. As in a teacher knows which are their best dancers but during competition, judges score them on technique, ability, choreography and how they present themselves. During a close tie the judges will watch the performance again on a screen... This happens for diving performances too, judging under the same criteria as dancing. Ballet dancers are some of the strongest and most flexible people on earth and they are scored during competitions, making it a sport.
No I like ballet and I've seen what a male dancer must do. . In my healthiest best days I could not do what they do. I had a girlfriend who was a ballerina she'd spend time every morning in the shoes walking on the very tips the company she was with had a male dancer from another city and he stayed with us hed be out in the garage on tip toes and do jumps ( im sure there was a name) i to this day respect anyone who has that discipline
Don’t let anyone fool you feminine and Masculine is a spectrum.
It is a sport that’s largely female dominated like other sports that have judges instead of score boards that’s a more interesting subject matter. But I think it’s because being analytical is a more masculine trait and being judged depends on not only competence but some form of connection to the ones effecting your score. “Judge’s and customs are alike just to clarify”
Yes and no. In theory ballet isn't a feminine sport. It is as much for male dancers as for female dancers and not really feminine at all.
In practise society made the girly ballerina the steretopocal connection to ballet many people have.
If ballet dancing is a sport, then so is a 50's sock hop routine.
When I think of ballet I immediately think of a ballerina in pink but I know there's many men who also practice ballet and when I attend ballet shows I'm never surprised when I see a guy on stage.
I wouldn't say it's a sport, but I don't think it's specifically feminine either
It’s a sport
I just googled “is ballet a sport” and it said yes.
Many websites say that. Not just AI
Ballet has completions just like how soccer, volleyball, basketbal and football have competitions.
Also many ballet dancers are very fit and probably just about as fit as other pro and elite athletes who play in different categories such as basketball, gymnastics, swimming soccer, tennis etc
Ballet requires physical effort, physical strength, flexibility, and endurance, just like most other sport. I see nothing wrong with calling ballet a sport
Well Google says our AI people are real persons, so can re really trust Google?
@NoDecision it’s many websites that says ballet is a sport. Not just AI overview
You know, I have never noticed it being an Olympic category. Is it? I figured it it ain't in the Olympics, then it's not a sport.
@NoDecision it’s still a sport. It involves athletics and ballet competitions exist.
Chess is also a sport but isn’t included in the olympics.
Just because it isn’t included in the Olympics does not mean it isn’t a sport.
@NoDecision there is many sports not included in the Olympics. Also the olympics may choose in the future to let ballet be part of the Olympics. Ballet is still a sport.
Also this question was mainly about femininity. Not whether ballet is a sport or not.
The most feminine aspect of ballet dancing... Is the female dancer!
It's like men asking if they have girls wrists... No, bro, you'd have girls wrists if you were a girl.
Or if you're intersex
@bingbongbangbung Intersex? That some raunchy continental train service?
Take 100 trannies, born male, put them on an island and a century later someone will find their graves and wonder why 100 men were living on the island!
Brainwashing kids into thinking they are something they aren't doesn't mean they are the opposite sex. Go find out how many of them have killed themselves, detransitioned and wish they hadn't said anything to their families and friends. People professing their belief in transexuality, people teaching the fetish to children, are setting thousands of people up for misery.
I mean, male ballet dancers are insanely strong. They're also around top quality 'pussy'. I'd say it's a masculine sport on that basis.
Pole dance is female sport, ballet isn't a sport.
Ballet is an art form that is fundamentally gender neutral.
Yes, but the female persuasion is more evident.
No. it is a tough sport. My son was friends with a kid who took ballet lessons who was also one of the stars on the football team/
I think sexing any athleticism is just a dumb thing to do
i find dancing to be a more feminine thing overall tbh.
In all the major ballet companies there is an equal number of women and men.
I love watching the male ballet dancers wearing their tight ballet suits
Kinda. There are few 5'81/2",200-lb.,72-year-old black... what's the male equivalent of "ballerinas?"
Male ballet dancers do exist, but they are feminine. So yes, I view it as feminine.
The Supreme Court considers ballet cruel and unusual punishment.
I feel that men can most definitely do this sport. That said, I would, due to masculine reasons, feel very uncomfortable trying it out.
Wasn't aware ballet was a sport, I thought it was a performance art.
It's dancing, and dancing's for girls.
Simples...
I recommend all women do ballett it develops a butt and leg muscles like nothing else. Ever seen a ballet dancer in tight pants? ooh yeah
It's not a sport. It's a performing art.
Yeah totally, its just fucked for real men to be that flexible
Yeah they look so cute in their skirts
Ballet is for anyone who wants to do it.
Hell no! Have you seen how toned they are?
Male ballet dancers are the hottest
No, it's a type of dance, not a sport.
But dancing is a sport. You are also wrong again.
Nope, dance is a form of art related to music, but it's obviously not a sport... so you're wrong again.
This is a sport?
It’s not just you. There was many people in the comment section saying it isn’t a sport. I couldn’t be bothered replying to them all and I thought they would probably rely more on what other websites say instead of hearing from me.
Yes, many of the most experienced ballet dancers are very fit.
Ballet is very similar to gymnastics. Both require flexibility, physical strength and balance.
Yes I do
Ballet dancers torture their feet
Yes.
Yes I do
Yes.
Yeah.
Yes it is
The amount of flexibility and agility involved and the nimbleness involved definitely makes it a sport/sports dance
Would i ever do ballet no i actually like having my feet non banged up toes non broken and feet non broken and ribs non broken
