I think the success and popularity of the Detroit Pistons “Bad Boys” changed the game indefinitely. An increasingly frustrated, aggressive, angry and vindictive US population revels in the outward expression of violence, especially where they get to pick a side and their side is benefiting from it. Just look at the state of political violence. Leftists are reveling in the murder of anyone and everyone who disagrees with them, as well as multiple attempts on the president’s life.
So sports are not going to become less violent anytime in the foreseeable future.

yes. Basketball has become a joke, as have most "professional" sports for a variety of reasons. "Traveling"? The "catch", the "gather", the "set"- omg. That's half a court, for pity sake. Fouling? Unless there is blood- - - - ;- ). they are far too forgiving.

BS. I played Basketball on school organized teams back in the 1980s and 1990s when I was a teen and pre-teen. My team sucked, but I know the rules. Back then, you were not allowed to initiate contact with the other team or you were called for a personal FOUL. Backing into someone while dribbling the ball was a CHARGING VIOLATION. Now they do that all the time. Half of Luka Doncics points come from charging violations which aren't called against him.

Now, they freaking bulldoze through one another and don't get called for a foul. It's like that on both offense and defense.

The way Basketball is presently officiated produces a game which is NOTHING like what James Naismith invented.
