People (like myself) pay for greater data-privacy and cybersecurity.
iOS phones do not suffer the same O. S.-fragmentation problem lower-budget Android phones do.

As even the title "It’s 2018, but the world’s most popular version of Android is from 2015" explains, a vast majority of the Android phones run on an operating system YEARS-outdated… in the age of online shopping, online, banking, hacking, and identity-theft. The latest Android version now is Android 9.0 "Pie" and should have all up-to-date security features. Many are vulnerable, do not run this, and cannot run this, since it hasn't been released for their country, service-provider, and specific phone-model. WHEN will it finally be released, when it's finally outdated, too?
If you think, that this info is outdated, here are the latest articles on the matter I've found so far.

Even if you secure the latest O. S. edition, the Android O. S. created by Google (whose business model depends on mass data-mining its users) spies on its Android users. Even Android phones on idle-mode collect and send to Google 10x data than idle iPhones.

You get what you pay for. I am willing to pay for better privacy and security. Also, the hardware is quite good, so I may have paid ≅$1,000 for my iPhone 7 Plus, but it's has served me for years now, and is sure to continue working for many more years to come.

They aren't buying a cell phone. They are buying a mobile computer, phone, internet device, camera, GPS, flashlight, and a bunch of other stuff.
I've never used one before. But I'm considering buying one. I won't even use it as a phone because I won't connect to a network. I'll just use it for the other stuff, like an old style PDA. I won't pay anywhere near that much though, probably less than $50.
I like being able to do everything I need to do on a day-to-day basis without taking out a whole laptop. Its convenient. Do I think my phone is worth the price? Probably not, but the convenience and performance makes it so I'm okay doing it.
HAHAHAHAHA omg man.
Watching porn on a expensive ass phone is better, yes.

Also I can take if for a swim, take pics under water:
The glass is a lot harder to crack than in most of the phones:
It has designated VR headphones which you can use with steam store.steampowered.com/vr/#p=0&tab=ConcurrentUsers get all the oculus rift games https://www.oculus.com/experiences/gear-vrthey are effectively computers, gps, phones, life organizers
i hate the prices of them but the way they've become effectively necessary to many i can see why the profiteers charge so much
i bought a new phone this year for the first time in 6 years. i was disturbed that to get the current model of my phone i'd have to spend $1000... thank you internet for my unlocked samsung that cost me $450Well, I bought my current phone for 100€ and it can do probably the same things as a 2k€ iphone or whatever. Phone is just for texts and calling. Ok, having the ability to go online and check your bank account and so on is nice. But the rest of the functions, PCs, consoles and dedicated cameras can do the job much better...
Camera quality, processor and phone speed, finger print scanner / face ID, screen resolution / color gamut, usb c charging, wireless charging (meh i m o), screen to body ratio, battery life, speaker quality among others. Why? Because people often spend hours on it a day and don't mind spending money on things they seriously use.
It's mostly the "premium" approach, you know past a certain point adding money won't get you more longevity or feature out of the device, but you can brag about it.
I just bought an LG V20 (released in late 2016) in new condition for 200 (USD) that still has a removable battery, and it works just fine for what I need. A lot of purchase is now bragging rights and needing to be on the cutting edge.Well, it is more than just a phone. It's basically a computer at this point, it holds relevant data, allows me mobile access to various things I need or want. At this rate, the 'phone' part is more of a minor thing whereas everything else is the 'major' part of smartphones. I'm willing to shell out a few hundred for that kind of stuff, especially since they last for quite a few years.
Well, years ago I had a cellphone that was cheap and a good laptop.
Now I have a good phone and a piece of shit laptop at home.
It's the main tool I use for the internet, and also the only camera I really use to record my kids. So yeah, i'll buy another high priced one in a year or two trying to once again get better camera and viewing performance.Considering you tuber content creators often times use iPhones or iPads to record their high quality videos and make tons of money off from...
They do a lot... it’s essentially a portable pc the size of your handI payed 1200 for mine but i got a discount. I mean the iPhone can cost up to 2000 depending on the plan. They look nice, are fast, most are durble and have new features as well
Everyone has to have the latest toys 🙄
I have an iPhone, but it was already two generations old when I got it. I’ll let other schmucks pay $1500 for a phone, I’ll get the same thing free with my planThey're just following the trend, sometimes the phone ain't even that good
Yes i agree these contract phones are just a extra cost
and these people just pay more money i think getting a
a phone no more than $200.00 and prepaid is the way to
go.Honestly it’s stupid and I don’t know why 😣... but I did it sigh and I’m embarrassed to admit it lolol
Because they're expensive to make. You're basically minimizing a regular computer to fit into your pocket.
Im sure in another decade we'll have phones that have a 2TB memory and process info faster than the current best computer on the market. These phones last 5 - 12 years - so really you are paying $0.33 per day of using your phone.
Just hosers trying to feel validated and special because they can buy one.
You can watch porn on it.
Also "might get you laid".Some of it is a status symbol, but it's mostly because the technology in the phones simply performs better. It has in my life experience, at least.
Either they a tech head or they broke rich
Rich people buy stuff that will later cost more. Broke people buy stuff to show it off and it lowers in value
