Are CD players worth buying?

I know everyone is getting iPods now but I don’t trust them cause I think you are at risk of losing all your data if your tech is damaged or accidentally deleted.

CDs can still get damaged. Did you know that you can also copy the data from your CDs onto a computer, which you could then use to put them on your digital devices?

Our computer broke down and we only have my MacBook now. We were supposed to buy a new computer from my dads office this month but the staff went on strike and now the company is rationing things.

Thats for you to decide, how often to you want to listen to CDs, how many CDs do you got and how much would you spent on a CD player.

I would only need my CD player for vacations when I’m in a car for long periods.

You can make a backup of your iPod CD players are good but not as a portable device. They are pretty big.

Kids don't know what VHS is nowadays. CDs are the equivalent of vinyl records. In fact, iPods are so 2000s. iPhones absorbed iPods.

I still have my CDs. I remember looking at $30 CDs in the late 90s when I know they barely cost $1 to manufacture. I remember paying pretty much all that money for one or maybe two songs. Man, was iTunes awesome. Now I only had to pay a fraction of that. iTunes and iPods really put Apple on the map.

Sure. Digital is handy but I like owning physical media. I have a turntable and it’s nice when friends come over to spin some records while they look through my collection. There’s just a cool factor to it. CD’s are good too.

It’s up to you but cds and even the CD player could get ruined easily. I didn’t even know people still have them these days. I haven’t had either in several years

Girl... It's 2022. Where have you been. Just put it on your phone or on google docs. or just YouTube everything. If I want to save something and never lose it I just upload it to google docs or upload it privately to YouTube. You can download it to your phone and have google doc or a usb for that matter be the backup where all the files are also stored.

Nobody has ipods anymore. You can have everything on your phone. Plus there's no chance of losing it. Everything is backed up online

Cd is scratched easier than ssd is corrupted

'Old School' but... MINORLY surface-scratched CD's can be polished out with car polish (not wax) whereas a corrupted SSD is virtually irreparable by the average owner.

@TheorionMage generally only individual files get corrupted and it’s pretty darn uncommon on an ssd
