To find out all you have to do is hit (windows key) + R then type in the box netplwiz then hit ok. It will show all the users using your computer. You can remove them if you don't recognize.

They won't show up as a user if they're hacking you, that would only be people registering as microsoft accounts on your device.

on windows do your windows r, powershell, then in the shell type in netstat -n

That will show every IP address you're connected to, and the status of the IP, local and outside network. Best to do so when you have every other program closed, like the broswer and what not. Do a tracert on the connected IP addies, then google the bounces in between to see which are servers like dropbox, google and what not, then if any are foreign ips, and what happens if you remove or block them.

Then check msconfig and startup, see if anything funky has inserted itself into your startup, regedit to see if your registry has anything weird in it. Honestly there isn't any reason to hack you, even war driving is out of style, and skimming.

Hacking databases you use is profitable though and you have no way of knowing unless you get a letter about it.

I hate to tell you this but the type of hardware doesn't matter. As long as you are running windows. Windows can be run on laptops and on desktops and even on some older types of cell phones
