A Notch Filter is also known as a Band Stop filter or Band Reject Filter. These filters reject/attenuate signals in a specific frequency band called the stop band frequency range and pass the signals above and below this band.

To me it functioned more like a squelch to get rid of noise from other stations, not sure if that’s the answer you are looking for though

Yaesu FT 890 To me that new compared to my other much older HF rigs.
Heck I still have a working 6 meter mono band base radio made by Kenwood. I think it was made in the early 1970s
Oldest one I have is the Uniden 2510 from 1992 I think
I have a couple of them two.
My oldest might be my 1946s National two radio set Receiver and Transmitter
I forgot I do have a walkie-talkie from Lafayette that has two CB channels built into it by changing the crystals , it’s about 50 years old
I have a couple of Johnson Walkie talkies from the late 1960s

cool. i had a friend that had a pair of them too. I do not know what ever became of them. I had them for many years,
@exitseven it was made completely of metal, chrome front and back was black, the antenna was about 4 feet long
Mine were grey plastic from what i remember , They had a range of a quarter mile.

I actually studied for it way back when but never took the test. I still have the oscillator key. I built an oscillator from a kit I bought in Radio Shack. I put it in a little plastic box and mounted the key on top of it. If I put batteries in it , it probably would work.
