I think this first time I went 3 years between iPhones. Usually go the two years for the new discount, but last year's looked so minimal and wanted to give another year a try. so will get the new 15. I travel a lot and battery capacity is now at 88% since new ones come out soon might as well just retire this one then.
A good option is I bought the magsafe battery pack which attaches to the back and gives a 2nd 90% jolt. Actually needed it to get through vacation days because of heavy use, I take so many pictures and social media things.

+1 yI've had mine about 3 years with Cricket Wireless, and it runs 5g excellent service, but there are times it seems the AT&T towers are down or having problems but other than that it's been a good phone and I agree I hate loading all my Apps onto a new phone.

+1 yTill it stops functioning. I have a Samsung I bought outright (no contract) that I've dropped a few times by accident, the edges of the screen are cracked & yeah water can get in. It's slow, glitches occasionally, etc. but it functions 90% of the time.
The funny thing is, is I can easily afford a brand new phone like an Iphone 14 Pro with cash but I don't wanna.

+1 yUntil it stops working. Had to get a new one two months ago after my old one of two years had problems.
Could no longer receive calls and texts, and it couldn't even keep a charge even plugged up. Charge went down even faster when my mobile data was on.

I'm with ya on this one. I don't care about the cost, it's the inconvenience that is a pain for me. It literally takes me a year or two to get the apps and configure everything just the way I like it on the phone. Can't stand the thought of having to do it all over again... especially because the phone is critical to the way I earn my living and can't have any down time. It's huge stress when I change phones so I try to do it as infrequently as possible.

@RingOfFire i agree with you. im like in yell mode oooooooooo nooooooooooooooo then i finally concede and get a new one and piss and moan till i get the hang of it lol. i need it mainly for my job other then that its not a huge part of my life but needed in healthcare so much its a necessary evil
+1 yIf the cost of getting my iPhone screen replaced is almost half the cost of my phone then it’s time for a new iPhone. Everyone is on iPhone 14 and I’m at 11 Pro Max. Odds are, I’ll probably keep the same phone until either the battery stops performing or the fixing fees cost more.

+1 yI'm a huge iPhone fan but I don't buy a new one every year. In fact I think I've only had 3 iPhones until now and a few more apple gadgets that I love. I bought my last iPhone in 2020 which was the iPhone 12 Pro and I use the iPhone 7 Plus as my duty phone. I'm planning to buy the new iPhone in September when it's launched so I can retire the iPhone 7 and use the iPhone 12 as my duty phone instead.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yYears. Basically until the phone is unusable. But usually I use it until I have to replace it or I'm tired of it. Tired of it implies that it has issues like the touch screen doesn't work that well and I'm at my wits end and I just need to get rid of it.

Opinion Owner+1 yAlso, did you know that people are starting to use flip phones again? I know a bunch of gen zs that are doing that which is pretty surprising. But honestly I think I would do that. Just to cut my phone use significantly.
652 opinions shared on Technology & Internet topic. I keep mine until it turns unusable. Hence buying Flagships is not such a bad idea for long term. My previous one lasted 5 years. My current one I bought in 2022, so it is just over 1 year in service. Good thing Androids were made to last... except the non-removable battery shit practice that is.

+1 yI use my smartphone until it no longer works right. My current phone is 2 years old; that one replaced a 7 year-old phone, and that one replaced a 10 year old phone. My motto "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
10 Reply until my other one is fucked or i see bad changes or the battery get fucked or the screen colour get damaged if not if there's cracks i the screen i can just get it fixed so not until its fully busted

+1 yIt depends on your contract or plan you have. My plan is I have to wait two years until I am eligible to get a new phone or if i need to replace my phone I have to buy a used phone. Usually I think phones can last a year until you need a new phone.

00 ReplyUsually there are upgrade deals with contractual phone service. I see it as beneficial. Versus using minutes on a three year old phone that can’t handle new apps…
