After today, did any of you switch phone plans from AT&T? Would you leave AT&T after this?

The outage was so bad. You couldn't call or text not even 911. That is insane. Maps not working. Imagine you're out and about all of a sudden your phone stops working. That's dangerous. I pay $80 for AT&T but I plan to switch to spectrum $40/month. No contract so I'll see how well they do

I switched over to spectrum new phone bill $40/ month unlimited plus plan no caps in gigabytes. I was paying $80 with at t plus contract obligations.

That is why i have regular wired home internet as wireless internet is very unstable i just use it for emergencies. I don't think the company matters as wireless internet just sucks in general.

Emergency services aren't based on service. You dial 911 and it will ping the closest cell tower regardless of ownership.

It wasn't doing that either. U dial 911 it said no network connection didn't even dial that's why so many people left today.

Verizon no longer enjoys the kind of advantage that it once had. The field between the 3 main US carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) is just about level these days, though there are a few individual areas where one is still better than another.

The decommissioning of 3G and the move to 5G allowed the carriers to reallocate the usage of their frequency bands, and so nearly all of that low-frequency, deeper-penetrating spectrum is being used for 5G at all the carriers.

Cellular service is constantly changing, and every 5 years or so - especially after a major rollout like 4G or 5G - you kind of have to forget everything you once knew about the carriers and find out how everyone is doing TODAY.

And as it turns out, the 3 carriers have never been more equal at any time in cellular history.

I am on verizon, so I didn't have to switch. I've traveled overseas enough I'm used to not having signal here and there, utilize wifi or whatever, but the no 911 thing? Wow...

I just switched to AT&T after 17 years with Verizon, already hate it. Wasn't effected by the issue today but coverage sucks and I've used Verizon overseas as well.

seems like... every six months, there's a company out there offering better and better contracts... it wasn't related to these incidents but I did switch some plans a couple of weeks ago

OMG that's so horrible! Not that there was an outage, but that level of dependency on a smartphone on one network. Good on you for cutting your bill in half, but if 16 hours without a digital device is so bad than holy fuck.

I missed work calls, emails, tax appointment was delayed because I could not get there due to maps not working. Like wow, I need another device

I work in IT.. My company has about 50 clients that has ATT for mobile. I had to field 25 calls today where they expected me, a server admin, to troubleshoot their shitty phones. At this point the head of ATT needs to have his head served up on a platter lol
