This is how capitalists think.
You see... governing bodies will occasionally get some restriction on corporate abuse past all the red tape and implement it with all the best intentions to try and protect people...
... and it will immediately be turned on its head by corporations trying to protect their profits.
Like the Sugar Tax in the UK for instance.
Government probably thought: "If we implement a sugar tax, they will make their products more expensive and fewer people will buy them". Instead all the soft drink companies started replacing some of the sugar in their drinks with "artificial sweeteners" that taste like toilet bleach in order to avoid changing prices... and basically every soft drink in the UK became completely undrinkable in short order.
The cookies thing is the same. The EU decided "Companies have to be prevented from gathering all this data they obviously shouldn't have, so we'll make it illegal for them to have it without consent". And what do the companies do? They start aggressively demanding consent to continue doing what they were doing anyway.
This whole nonsense isn't going to end until corporations are stripped of their rights entirely.
Yeah, I always click no to cookies unless they’re giving me chocolate chip cookies 😊
Yessss and worse it's same site you might have already been on same day but it asks again! And they sneaky cos they pop up then move or trick u into pressing consent!
There is a plugin called Tampermonkey that runs specific scripts for firefox based browser, it helps with those pesky windows on google or YT.

Oh yes ! It's damned annoying having to set over and over again privacy preferences. Sure one can avoid that by never erasing the cookies, but that real risk ! Although annoying, I still prefer to set regularly again my preferences.
The "sign in with Google", although sometimes rather annoying, seems often useful because allowing to sign in quickly. Sure, also somehow a spy risk, safe when erasing the cookies after the session... ;0)
Years ago, older versions of for instance Firefox, allowed a better choice. One could reject the third party cookies, and accept only the necessary ones. Now, if available (!) making the choice is made much more difficult, I guess in order to force the web surfer to accept spy cookies and similar useless bugs which never add anything good for the internaut.
I agree. It's so fvcking annoying. There's even a name for it, "cookie fatigue."
My ad blocker has been able to block some of the cookie crap. When I have to, I use fake google accounts, but creating them and such is a pain!

Yes it's a pain in the ass but I respect governments for trying to protect us. Governments are always at a disadvantage compared to big businesses who try and exploit every weakness in the law so maybe at some point all cookies will just be turned off by default and you have to turn them on if you want them. Or something like that but for now this is the best we've got.
It's "please put this tracking device on your computer so Big Brother knows exactly where you are and what you're doing without needing to apply for a warrant".
I'm slowly moving everything I have offline. Difficult when my friends are mostly overseas, but I'm working on it.
I get hit with worse. Periodically I get tossed right in the middle of a conversation and when I try to login it says ERROR 400. Then it may take 3 to 30 minutes before I get back in. Then my format. The page layout changes back and forth every few days. One is the good way that has the answer box with bold and slant and other things. The bad way doesn't have that box and everything is in its wrong place.
Not tired enough to just let them steal and sell my personal information.
I don’t use android anymore. Exactly because i am sick and tired of google tracking me and selling my information without giving me a cut.
I get my girls from somewhere else.
So the settings on fucking websites do not even touch me.
In all other related cases: once I'm asked to ''sign up'' - I will look elsewhere.
Oops - on stuff like GaG, I only use one of my email accounts that I don't use any longer.
Yes but 99% of people sold out there privacy for convenience years ago.
These are the same people that will use DNA, fingerprints and facial recognition willingly. Fools!
Ugh, same feels! 😩 Made me give up on the internet, lol.
I think the purpose of many sites trying to get people to sign in with their Google credentials is to track everything u do.
Yep. Everyone wants your data. I wish you could set a global setting so you don’t get bothered with it
It gets old but I guess it is necessary most of the time
yeah. it's as dumb as an "are you 18 years of age?" poppup on a porn site.
Yes those stupid cookies
Why can't they default to: no cookies
And then if you want to you you can enable them
Yes, it's extremely frustrating. I ignore them when I can.
Yes... it's so annoying
Yes, it is a real pain in the ass.
