Should we bring back full service has stations?

Would you pay an extra 20c-30c/gallon to be able to just sit in your car and have an attendant pump your fuel, check/fill your tires with air, wipe your windows, and check your oil?

Gas stations used to have some pumps that were self service and others that were full service.

YES, I would pay extra to have a gas station attendant perform the above services.

So many women hate pumping gas. In the ritzier areas I bet full service would do well.

I would use it occasionally if it's an option. Especially if I'm dressed nice for work, I don't wanna run the risk of smelling like gas if I have seminars or meetings. A funny story, my boyfriend and I were out of town and we pulled into a gas station, he didn't notice he pulled into the "full service" lane. Well, all of a sudden this girl that looked to be about 12, comes out and starts pumping the gas, checking his oil and tires, cleaning his windows... lol I guess you had to be there! It was funny. He had a hard time sitting in the truck while this little girl is doing all this work.

I’d go for it. It’s irritating to wait for someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing fuss around at the pump when there’s a line…. This would streamline things….

@KrakenAttackin Personally I don't mind pumping my own gas, but I always seem to be behind some lug nut who acts like they've never seen the gas pump before.

That's true. I've gotten into the habit of checking everything on my own, but it would be nice to just sit back and let someone do it... At least in the summertime when it's boiling hot. 😂

@DishLady Amazon sell these automatic tire pumper things. All you have to do is attach them and switch them on and it will pump up any missing air to the level you pre select! They no longer have to be connected to the car battery either as they have their own rechargeable battery source

Thank you Tommy. I’ve had a basic car kit with all the junk I need since I was 17… I even know how to change my own tire and everything…. I’m good.

Kraken’s saying it would be convenient to have the full service person come do all the stuff for you. It’s like saying… I know how to cook but I want to go out for lunch instead….

No, I would not trust them to get the tyre pressures correct, chances are they would get different pressures in each tyre and or just put 32psi in every car that comes onto the fuel court. As for oil, you can check from inside the car via its display, also a nightmare if they decided to top it up 😱

I've done the conversion from litres to gallons, and then from £ to $ and the cost of a gallon = $8.57 here in the UK.. and it would cost me 165 Dollars to fill up a full tank of petrol.. If you think I'm gonna choose to pay MORE than that.. you're crazy!!!

@WhiteBoyChill It's swings and roundabouts though.. Where we pay through the nose for petrol/ gas, you pay for healthcare. Well, we do still pay for it but at source so it isn't as noticeable.

Oh and I forgot to mention. The biggest chuck of that money goes towards tax.. Otherwise we would be at the same price as you.

@WhiteBoyChill If only it was JUST that, but we have a congestion charge too, meaning if you drive in London you have to pay to use the car extra tax at peak times. That looks to be extended across the whole country next.. Hopefully it won't happen though!

It's been tried several times, and the bottom line is that not nearly enough people are willing to pay (and pay CONSISTENTLY) in order to maintain such service. It always starts well because people will pay for it once or twice as a novelty, but it's not long before their back to pumping their own gas in order to save $0.40 per gallon.

If full service stations were economically viable, they'd never have gone away.
