The problem is if America became another UK country they would be the largest partner. To put in perspective, the combined population of Scotland, Wales, and N Ireland is dwarfed by England so imagine if America joined, we'd have Trump thrust upon us.

Now a king may be a good idea, someone to hold the president to account and remind him of what is acceptable behaviour. There's currently a "petition to the king" in the UK to get rid of the PM and call an early election. Nothing will happen but at least the king will ask Starmer why so many feel he's a knob head.
