I replace hardware when it is becoming too old.

I have only once bought a complete new PC, that was 2 years ago when I had a large pay out in disability benefits; I've spent £1400 on a PC.

2 years is 'old' when it comes down a PC and hardware, but I can still do anything I want to do with my PC and games work perfectly on the highest setting... so for now I see no point in upgrading hardware.

My Graphics card, however, is dodgy again; I do sometimes get distortions... oddly enough mainly in Facebook.
This is now the 2nd expensive card, I have ever bought, which started to become corrupted quite soon after I had received my PC; but it is still more than workable, so I won't buy a new one yet.

I can't say I really know how my PC holds up compared to other PC setups, of similar price, of that time... but I do dare to say it is a decent PC.

I've never had an issue with my video cards. My current PC is about 10 years old I think and it's still fast. I just need an upgraded video card to play the latest games.

Maybe we play different kind of games?

Over time, when my hardware like a graphics card were aging... I did start to notice significant stutters and lag, and was forced to lower the graphics settings substantially.

Graphics card is the biggest bottleneck. Despite Motherboards often having multiple cores and all, so theoretically games should work faster; often even the newer, most demanding games, still only use 1 core. So for a motherboard speed of the cores is more important than the amount of cores... That's why older, even 10 year old, motherboards can still work fine for the newer games.

Every 8-10 years, when i got the money and the pc is dead.

I assembled mine back in 2016 picking the best components from back then and it's still in service and I have no plans to replace that beast.
