Do you have read receipts activated on messaging apps?

The only thing people can see when they text me is if the message has been delivered or not, apart from that they cannot see if the message has been read or not. I'm not that much into texting and sometimes don't check my phone or take my time to answer messages, I'm also an extremely anxious person and rather not see if someone read my message or not.
