I have a 2010 46 Samsung HDtv 1080P but my friend at work was like " you should get a new tv a 60" 4k tv what do I do?

You have to figure out: what would make you happier? Spending the money on the new TV, or keeping your old TV and spending that same money on other things (or saving/investing it)?

No TV will live forever, but if you can get by with the TV you have, and YOU (and not your "friend") don't have an overwhelming need for a new TV, then don't let someone pressure you into spending money in a way you don't really want to.
