How EASY or HARD was it when you REPLACED your phone, tablet or PC?

I recently replaced my 7-year-old tablet with a new modern model. They are both Androids (old=Samsung, new=Lenovo), and the replacement went smoothly. The new tablet automatically moved almost all of my apps and data from my old tablet; all I had to do was make sure they were both turned on and answer a few simple questions, and install some newer app versions on the new tablet. My old tablet was stuck on Android 9 while my new one came with Android 15.

Think about the most recent time you replaced your phone, tablet or PC.

How easy or hard was it to get the new device up to where you could use it like before?

Trying to get a new phone st Walmart and get it set to my old phone number was a failure. I ended up spending ss afternoon there and returning it.

Then I went to Verizon and got it done in about a half hour.

The only difficulty is that my personalization to MS Word did not transfer and I had to repeat several things I did to personalize Word on my new laptop.

I had to buy another new phone AGAIN yesterday. It had so many ads that I couldn't even type my opinions on here! So I took it back today and had them work the bugs out.
This one is a Motorola.

The PC itself was easy to replace. Trouble was when it crashed I lost almost everything on it

@douride2 Backups to external devices or the cloud is important. All my important data on my laptop is periodically backed up to an external USB disk drive, with critical data backed up to two separate USB memory sticks. Most pictures are on my phone and laptop, as well as to the cloud.

Yes I should have known better. Luckily there wasn't anything of real importance lost.

It wasn't that hard. I liked how my new laptop had a touchscreen. As for my phone, I more had to get used to the size. It's larger than my last phone.

The pc was the hardest as i built it myself took me about 6 hours and the water cooler was the biggest pain in the butt.

I bought a new phone about a month ago. Old Samsung S22. New Samsung S25. The change over was seamless. Just plugged them into each other and followed the on screen instructions and downloaded all my apps etc.

Hardest part is remembering all the passwords because they were autosaved on old device

It is effortless. That is what backups are for.

In many cases it's quite simple and an app is taking care of it for you.

In company's it's harder since many companies don't allow transfer of apps and data. Then it's a real pita

Relatively easy. The tech at the phone store ran a "lap link" (at least that's we called it about 30 years ago), and off-loaded the info from old phone onto the new.
