What if data centers were hiding a bigger threat?

I love AI but hurting the environment sucks. I don't think we need it at the scale they want. But what if it was hiding a bigger threat? If this was an attempt at solving a global catastrophe? They wouldn't be able to tell you about it. Would you want to know? I think most people would want them to solve it too!

Data centers are just another tool to displace expenditures on public and to privatize profits. It's a bubble and they know it's one but they don't care because money that gets destroyed isn't their wealth, however results will be theirs, exclusively.

Data centers are for AI. The only problem they're solving is, "how can we make a million a billion dollars and a billion a trillion dollars. And we don't care if we have eliminate the world's freshwater source to do it. Because the 1% want to get rid of the great unwashed masses anyhow.

I think that AI is not hiding anything. I am still not convinced that it is the next big thing but would not want to fall behind China.
