Why do parents still post photos of their kids on social media despite privacy risks?

I personally think its mental to post pics of your children on social media especially with everything on the news atm with AI and stuff I can't believe how stupid and uneducated some parents are.

We got told ourselves growing up when social media was just becoming a thing not to post are school, faces, personal lifes not but anyone listened and i still see people posting pics of there kids first day of school photos outside the front door of there house, school logo showing and everything. Might as well invite them into your house for a cuppa at this rate.

Me and my friend who's also a mother to a baby girl constantly talk about this topic and about are children's safety.

I don't think people understand if you post a pic of your child thats on the Internet for life, your child didn't choose to be part of your social media life. Your child's safety and privacy is surly worth more then likes and validation.

I sure pics with close family because if anyone outside family wants to see a pic they can just see them they can't screenshot it for themselves.

My auntie asked me recently why I dont post my baby on socials and I explained why and she still thought she was entitled to post her online when I told her not too. If I don't post her online for them reasons why the hell does she think its okay for her to do.

I went mental and was so angry with her as she has like 600 friends on her socials and all the people liking the pics didn't even know me and my husband. That's 600 people me and my husband dont know looking at are baby online.

I politely asked her to take it down but im still mega pissed at her. I think people really need it drilling into there heads how serious this situation is right now.

I even heard in some states in the USA is a first amendment to own CP as long as its AI.
AI is still based off someone's face and thats not just a danger to children in that state its a danger to children all over the world.

Whats stopping Chad from colorado stumbling across Jacky from Sheffields fb were she posts pics of her children fir everyone to see and him taking them pics for himself. I get its not all the parents fault and its the dirty pedos but why would you make your child a target is all im saying really

Some people are simply careless and don't think about the risks and consequences of putting their children's lives online. Others are probably looking for validation or attention and don't consider the child's interests enough. What really pushes my gears is that they don't seem to think beyond "aww, my kid is cute. I want to share this." Like, just think about the child and the potential dangers for once. You're not only potentially exposing them to serious privacy and safety risks, you're also creating a digital footprint for a child who never had the chance to consent to it

It is easy to make your profile private enough to do such things. Sadly, most people are unaware of how to do it.

I have a friend who posts pic of her son like everyday online but she has this thing on her fb were it won't allow anyone to screenshot i asked her to explain it to me but it was difficult for her to explain in English as she's Ukrainian and it was to techy for me to understand lol

I'm not sure there probably blind, I've seen loads of 6-15 year old girls in leggings or skirts randomly on Google or other famous apps. Im like ooh noooo.

I know my husbands niece are very pretty girls but they dress abit inappropriate you know them legging shorts and school shirts they'll wear them o tiktok doing silly little dances and there men from India following them and commenting can't say they are a classmate can you.

We've made comments in passing before to there parents but they say its what all the teenagers are doing and they can't stop them.

Oof true I've seen nasty things said to the girls on there some girls respond back, they seem to know what the men fo with the pics videos. It's scary out there

The thing is i don't actually think these girls understand.

There just copying what they see on social media and what they think is trendy and they like getting validation from it they don't think about the 40 year old man looking at them behind a screen

I've spoken to my male friends about this situation and they say they wish there partners wouldn't do it as much as they do

My kids will never appear on social media until they are old enough to understand what that means. I refuse to use my kids for clicks.

You could have asked this on my other question but if your genuinely curious I knew he was the one because how he treats people. I wanted a man who shared the same values as me such as family being number one most important thing.

he's always out there helping others and asking for nothing in return. He has a lot of vulnerable family members and is always caring them and he's just an extremely caring person overall.

He might not say it with his worlds but hr shows it through his actions.

I knew I loved in the morning after we'd been out to some bars and had a really good night. We went to witherspoons 🤣 to recover from are hangovers and we just kept ordering food to are table and were just talking away for hours. We got to the last chicken strip and he told me i could have it lol I don't know why but thats when I knew I loved him but as soon as we met I was so happy and was smiling the whole way home, I didn't know we'd be were we are now but I knew he was gonna play an important part in my life.

That other guy definitely wasn't the one looking back i was just a stupid 18 year old in love for the first time.

He was financially irresponsible , had a drinking problem, cared to much about looking cool on front people who didn't have his best interest and was just too nerdy. You know that level of nerd were it ain't cute. I can't imagine having children with him and him saying sorry we can't have Christmas this year I've spent all are money on war hammer so I can play in a basement with my creepy mates

It still ain't private , plenty of hackers online and company's like fb sell your information and photos. Thats why when you go middle Eastern countries you see a picture of Selena Gomez selling hemroids cream or something like that

The risks apply to everyone, not just “celebrity” parents. You don't have to be famous for your child's photos to end up somewhere you never intended them to. Once something is online, you have very little control over where it ends up or who can access it
