1. I don't have ANY money

If you have a job that doesn't involve the words "unpaid intern" in the title, you've got money. You may not have loads of it, but you've got it, and as such, you can save it. Rather then pay extremely high phone bills, eat out several times a week, drive everywhere, go out all the time, why not put actual effort into saving up for a trip? If you claim travel is important to you, make it a priority. Do your online research about how you can save tons on your travels (TRUST, you aren't the only one who's ever tried to travel on a dime), and be prepared for a little sacrifice for the trips of a lifetime or just a sweet road trip a few hours away.

2. I don't have ANY time

If I told you, you just won the lottery but have to drive to Montana to pick up your winnings, are you going to tell me you don't have time? Prioritize. Traveling does not have to be every week and weekend. In fact, most American's barely manage to get away once or twice...a year...so if in an entire year of your life, there is literally absolutely not a second you can get away, it's time to prioritize and work some things through so that you can find the time.

3. I'm forever alone

Now that you know that, it's time to stop letting that hold you back in life. Put on your big girl/boy underwear and go by yourself or if the fear is just utterly crippling, go on a group tour somewhere where at least you will have traveling buddies if you are that inclined. Personally, some of the most refreshing and eye opening trips of my life have been alone because you're concentrating on yourself and what you want to do and see and what you're feeling vs. always having to go by someone else's schedule or do things you really would rather not. Plus the experience gives you real time to get to know the locals and hang out and have a totally new experience than being with someone else all the time.

4. I've never traveled before

Congrats, there is a first time for everything! Remember all those things you'd never done before but then you did them...that's how travel is. You've gotta jump in, get your feet wet, and then before you know it, you'll be off and running!

5. It's dangerous AF

You can't live your life in fear. Danger is literally all around us and can happen to us at any moment but on the same token, don't be a dumba-- when it comes to travel. The internet is a thing that was invented that allows you to research and look up areas that are really legit not safe for travel (violence, war, terrorism, gangs, drugs, murder, etc.) for which I'll give you a hint: "don't go to those places." Also be sure and contact the embassy if you are doing foreign travel because they have whole lists of what to do and not do in a country and ways they can help keep track of you for family at home.

6. I don't want to get the runs

Get all your shots. Don't eat food that looks or smells suspicious or you can see isn't being prepared safely. Heed all food and water warnings. If you're so freaked out, eat a McDonald's or packaged food from the grocery store and have some meds handy. Keep in mind, even in the best conditions and countries were food safety is a priority, people still get food poisoning, but don't let that stop you from taking an adventure.

7. I don't have a passport

Get one. If you just can't be bothered, then plan on traveling locally.

8. I don't speak any other languages and don't have time to learn.

Then don't. If that is your solo excuse, realize that in this modern era, as much as we all should know more than one language, a lot don't, so rather then stay home just because of that, pull out your cell phone and google some basic instructions and plan out your trips so you know which trains, which cars, which hotels and restaurants, and attractions you want to visit so at the very least you can point to a map and google, how do you say (this) in this foreign language. Also know that at least if you speak English, most people world wide will speak a little of it.
