I took a trip to Spain recently. I had a great time. I'd like to take some time to note the differences in customs between the U.S. and Spain to prepare those interested in touring Spain.
Walking
You will be doing a lot of walking. I know I did. So pack some comfy shoes for the trip.
Public Transportation
You know the thing you do when you raise your hand and a taxi comes? Yeah, that won't work in Spain. If you want a taxi, you will have to walk to a taxi stop. People who wave their hand for a taxi are obviously foreigners. Same thing goes for buses. Don't worry, there are plenty of stops available. Remember that the taxi will NOT come to you.
Siesta

Smoking
Smoking is much more common in Spain than it is in the U.S. On your trip to Spain, be prepared to smell nicotine and tobacco in the air.Soccer
Soccer is the most popular sport. Period.
I hope this was helpful for you who are visiting Spain. Have a good trip!
