What is Your State Like? My Take on Oklahoma.

Many people are shocked when I tell them I am from Oklahoma. They always assume I’m from California for some reason haha. Even though, I do travel there a lot.

I’ll be focusing on Oklahoma City because that’s where I live.

Common Misconceptions

• We live in teepees - I’ve never even seen a teepee lol

• We still have outhouse - We have plumbing just like everyone else

• Tornados Happen Everyday - Tormados occur mostly in the spring time.

• We all live on a farm - Some people do but a lot of us live in cities.

• It’s just dirt - There’s so much more to Oklahoma than just flat lands.

• We all say y’all - that’s true lol

Things to do

I like to go to Downtown okc a lot

Go to the river walk in Bricktown

Like othe popular cities, we have a river walk too

Go to the movies

I go here a lot it’s in brick town too

Go to the botanical Gardens

I’ve never been here but they always have different activities going on

Go to a Thunder game

Yeah, We have a basketball team and it’s a good one too.

Chesapeake Energy Arena

If you have a constant sweet tooth then this is the place for you.

There’s so much to do here, It’s hard to list everything. Oklahoma is not the boring state a lot of people imagine.

In my opinion , OU has one of the best college football teams. I don’t say that because im a student there lol.

Conclusion

Oklahoma is a very fast growing city. It is my home and no matter where I go, I’ll always miss it. Hopefully I have changed your perception of Oklahoma. :) I’d love to know about your state too.

People have misconceptions about most states. Oklahoma is a nice state. I've been through it at least 20 times, and stopped for a few days a couple of times. I had seriously though about moving there before.

Somewhere around GaG I mentioned Oklahoma City as one of the best cities in the country. I also thought Tulsa was nice. One thing that struck me about both of them is they were very clean and uncrowded compared to most cities.

You didn't mention the Science Museum. I spent several hours there and didn't come close to making it through everything. I mostly got through the aerospace section.

I've also been to that Cowboy Hall of Fame. But that was a looong time ago (1967).

If that Bricktown is the old historic district near the Botanical Gardens, I ate at a Cajun restaurant there that was really good.

I wanted to go to the botanical gardens but didn't have time. Something you can see in the picture is that the gardens are literally right next to downtown. That's prime real estate, but instead of putting in more skyscrapers they put in a huge garden instead. I thought the entire area was really pleasant and peaceful. Not at all like most cities.

Yeah is called scissortail Park. It’s 70 acres. Right downtown. We also have street cars now.

That's almost a half mile by quarter mile. That's pretty big for downtown.

I was curious about scissortail and looked it up. I assume it refers to the bird. There's a fish by that name also but not in Oklahoma.

I live in Bloody red Indiana. Nothing here. We have the worlds largest children's museum, NASCAR, One of the rare states with dolphins, and corn... We are not culturally diverse though... Our team the Pacers is usually in trouble with the law and they suck.. so.. skip this barren racist ass state... Oh and we get tornados.

It's cold in the winter where I live. Certain parts of the state smell (mostly due to the farms, with cows). We LOVE our sports teams and consumables (foods and drinks). Summers can be a bit hot some years, but otherwise is usually VERY, VERY good. I haven't had the pleasure (or displeasure) of visiting Oklahoma, but I certainly wouldn't mind planning a trip there one day.

Nice take. I would have never put ice skating and Oklahoma in the same sentence until seeing this take. I usually think of OU, Oklahoma State Univ, Tulsa, Black Wall Street, cowboys, plains, Westbrook-Durant, and the Dust Bowl when I think of this state. But this city looks really nice. Especially the botanical gardens and movies pictures. I might actually research this place now.
